Wow, that would have been ideal. For the addition of Wiggins you upgrade to a younger, better starter under control for multiple years. It's a shame that didn't get done.

I cannot dislike Mis. I would absolutely love him if he were a Cub. He's the PCA of pitching.

I feel like the versatility as a switch hitter thing is no longer part of the equation. I strongly believe that the org knows he's a platoon bat now.

I like the idea of Mahle. I'm not interested in signing a bunch of back- end-of-the-rotation types. Depth is great, but you can't keep setting a low ceiling for your pitching staff. I was perhaps the loudest advocate for acquiring Cabrera. He was not good this season, but I'm convinced the logic was sound. Hopefully he tweaks things and gives us a dominant season or two.

If Holmes can be signed for 3/50 or something, I'd do it.

It's going to be such a kick in the nuts if we never get quality innings from Steele, Horton, Brown or Wiggins moving forward. I'm afraid that may be more likely than not. At one point that looked like a hell of a potential 1-4.

Also, it's pretty wild that the only person I'm pretty sure is a lock for opening the season in the rotation is Braxton Garrett. Yikes.

Would not mind having Holmes back but there is no way I'm giving him near $30m per. He's had one full season as a starter and was worth 1.9 WAR. HR rate is elite, but K/BB limits his ceiling. Yes, he plays up in front of this defense but not to the point he's worth 25-30m.

That was quite the reversal of fortune. 5 minutes ago it looked like they would escape this 2-0 and now the season is likely lost. It looked like a torn hamstring to me.
