  1. Agree that the team has found some quality relievers, but if you throw enough arms at the proverbial wall, some are going to stick. The Cubs aren't the only team to take this approach, but they do seem to struggle with it, in some sense. They consistently pay for past performance with guys nearing the aging cliff and then cling too tightly after the fall. This has become a pattern, now. If they are going to give long leashes, it should be to young, high-ceiling arms.
  2. Sometimes Assad looks like a quality #3 starter. Mo looks fine behind the plate.
  3. For the record, I wasn't 100% serious about Wiggins. Always taking the low- risk, low-reward path gets a bit annoying however.
  4. If it were up to me, I'd shake things up. I know it's incredibly late but it can't get worse at this point. The offense is lifeless. Rest Seiya. Nico Ballesteros Happ Busch Shaw Caissie Kelly/Amaya PCA Swanson
  5. I love the idea of a society where people of differing opinions can express those opinions and be met with open minds. Those opinions absolutely cannot, under any circumstance, include: "Group x does not have a right to exist" Do you understand why? Once that threshold is crossed, there is no longer a civil debate to be had. Kirk believed some of our friends and family should not exist. He espoused these views proudly to millions of people.
  6. Himmler had a dog, man. He liked orange juice and Debussy. I miss him everyday.
  7. You say 'triggered' a lot. Also, you keep quoting yourself.
  8. So Shaw + Wiggins + Alcantara + Rojas for Skenes and we don't have to think about this anymore.
  9. Conrad looks like the bully from an 80's coming-of-age movie.
  10. Not in any way diminishing what Horton is doing, but Jake's run was something else entirely. He was so dominant that I started thinking he had solved pitching. Every start felt like a guaranteed win. Cade has been fantastic, but he's given up a good amount of hard contact and been fairly lucky on balls in play, to say nothing of his measured workload.
  11. Excited for this one. Skenes is 1 of 1 but is facing the better lineup.
  12. It's funny thinking how well PCA hit that ball, seemingly with all he had. Then comparing it to what Schwarber did in the wild card game. Miss that guy.
  13. I wouldn't mind seeing Christian Hernandez get a shot. Probably next year, though.
  14. So.. odds they stop scoring now and lose like, 5-2?
  15. I just don't want to always feel like I'm watching a national feed
  16. If I want to hear the play by play guy pull for the Braves, I can watch the Atlanta feed. Boog sounds delighted every time the Braves score.
  17. I think all the consternation is 30% falling behind the Brewers and 70% the historic offense crashing back to earth, due mainly profound, prolonged struggles from the 3 big bats on the team.
  18. Yeah. If, at the end of the year, there's any way you can squint and say "best 2nd half of all- time", then he has to win. Right now you could do that. Crazy.
  19. wRC+ since the break Kelly 65 Suzuki 82 Busch 82 PCA 70 Swanson 95 The other 4 starters are doing well, but the offensive juggernaut of the 1st half is nowhere to be seen. There was a point in June that I'd have said the Cubs are the team to beat but now I'd be pleasantly surprised if they could make the NLDS.
  20. This offense has had a hex put on it or something. I've never seen an offense be so consistently good for a long period and then just completely fall apart like this. It's not streaky, it's night and day.
  21. Yeah, the guy hit 25 HRs in the 1st half. I understand why he's reticent to bunt.
