  1. I'm prepared to feel the pain for Cabrera. It's such a good fit that no one is off limits to me. I do wonder if they are pushing to extend Tucker at this very moment because that let's them feel much better about dealing Caissie.
  2. I realized that Nico now has a higher OPS than Happ.
  3. Looks like the one that almost hit him in the hands was called a strike.
  4. Cards gonna end up with a position player pitching.
  5. The awkwardness in continuing this interview is wild.
  6. Caissie 3/4 with a 2B and BB. 10 for his last 16 with 2 2B, 4 HR, 3BB, 2K.
  7. With Trout, his youth was such a factor. A 10 WAR season at age 20 is insane.
  8. My theory is that they are saving some innings for October.
  9. Agree, though if Ballesteros is involved, it needs to be for a #1.
  10. Shaw's PAs have been much better since his adjustment. I would bet heavily on increased production moving forward. He has played elite defense. Stick with him and sell out for pitching.
  11. Of the top 14 hitters in the NL (wRC+), 4 are Cubs. #s 5, 7, 12, 14 Manny Machado would be the 5th best hitter in the lineup. In the NL Central, the top 4 hitters are all Cubs.
  12. Caissie 3/4 with a 2B, BB, 0 K I think he's reaching that next level.
  13. Is Shaw married to a tyrant or just married to Jesus? Seemed like he thought he would be struck by lightning if he made eye contact with Taylor in that interview.
  14. I've been coveting Cabrera for some time. Someone will overpay for Alcantara.
  15. Edward Cabrera was lights out, as well.
  16. A 61 wRC+ away from Coors this season, 82 career. Please no.
  17. Romy Gonzalez (BOS) has a 193 wRC+ against LHP. Makes a lot of sense, and wouldn't cost a ton. Baltimore, K.C., and MIA if they stop winning should all be sellers. Some good pitching available there. I'm still team Shaw for this season. The glove is outstanding and I think the adjustment is in there. If they can get Suarez for Triantos +, go for it.
  18. I'm not losing sleep over it, but prior to the game, Counsell was talking about the selflessness of Flexen, giving an extra inning so the rest of the bullpen could be fresh and at-the-ready, and then Taillon is left to face Altuve a 3rd time at over 100 pitches. Because of the fresh pen, I really thought they might go there to start the 5th. I was increasingly surprised by each hitter Taillon was allowed to face.
  19. I sure appreciate the optimism here. Not to go full Tom, but Ricketts is a capitalists' capitalist. The financial success of the Chicago Bulls is not lost on him. He can piss the fan base off and still pull massive profits. The WS victory just gives him more slack. I do believe he wants the team to be "competitive", but he knows you can do that working the margins. Jed simply knew he had to contend this season in order to keep his job, so he brokered a deal to do that. If they sign Tucker long term, I will be absolutely shocked.
  20. Caissie has the 4 BB day on Wednesday and hasn't played since. Did I miss something?
  21. Royals have lost 5 in a row, scoring a grand total of 4 runs. Only 3.5 games out of the WC, but 5 teams in front of them. Would love to strike a deal there.
  22. Agree. With the dearth of clear 3rd base upgrades, I'd rather just give Shaw the entire season. Could pay dividends this year and moving forward and it seems now that the worst case scenario is gold glove caliber defense at 3rd. I'll take that + upside over Candelario or McMahon.
  23. To be fair, that's not really realistic. I don't believe there has been a season in which only one team has won over 90 games in almost 100 years. I understand that they use weighted averages and running a trillion sims, but there isn't going to be a season like that anytime soon, so while I might argue that 88 wins is a reasonable (30th percentile?) outcome for a pretty good team, I understand what he's trying to say.
