  1. Justin Turner seems like a really nice guy. I hope he can make solid contact with a baseball today.
  2. Prior was a phenomenon. More on the Strasburg/Skenes level. Juan Cruz was so filthy. I've still never seen another fastball move like that. I remember getting excited about guys like Steve Smythe and Jae Kuk Ryu.
  3. This is not a reaction to one bad outing. I've been horrified by Pressly-as-closer since the beginning. I didn't think the signing was terrible, because they needed arms, but high leverage is obviously not where he belongs at this point. If you look at his data from '23 to '24, there is an alarming drop in everything. You could see this coming. The best front offices are playing ahead of the curve. Busch was a great pick up in that regard. Pressly was not.
  4. Now earned runs is a good way to measure a reliever?
  5. Berti is a defensive upgrade on who, exactly? Give me Shaw.
  6. Are other players doing the money thing or is PCA gesturing to Ricketts?
  7. Justin Turner's avg exit velo (percentile) 2021 - 79 2022- 65 2023- 51 2024 -16 So sure, 40 is a number, but we're really arguing that he's due to buck this trend as one of the oldest players in baseball?
  8. Do me a favor and go to baseball savant and press play on his percentile rankings.
  9. He had a terrible start to the season and is almost on pace for 40/40.
  10. Moises is criminally underrated.
  11. There is nothing wrong with Shaw. He is a premium prospect who needs a bit of a runway. This team can afford to give him that.
  12. I'll just never feel comfortable with a closer who doesn't miss bats.
  13. Don't love using Palencia here. He'll be unavailable tomorrow.
  14. Hell, credit where it's due, Turner hit that well.
  15. Still entertaining, watching this offense. Bases loaded, 1 out. Would be fun to give them a bit of a sweat. Unfortunately it's Turner coming up.
  16. You think Amaya would be bewildered by hitting 4th?
  17. I know lineup construction isn't a huge deal but you can't just throw Grandma in between our two best hitters. Sure, you don't want to throw anyone off too much, but I'm sure Carson Kelly would love to be in that spot for a night.
  18. One is a DH (for now) and the other might be the best defender in baseball. Vlad Guerrero, Jr. and Freddie Freeman would be 8th and 9th on the team in position player fWAR.
  19. Love that the organization has a 21 yr old C in AAA with an ops over 1.000 who somehow isn't top 100. The 45 FV was just beyond the pale. With Caissie, too.
  20. This sure is fun. The Cubs are good with a clear path to getting better.
  21. Boy, it's strange to feel this confident at this point but that's what Kyle Tucker does, I guess.
