  1. Yeah, took the family to Kaufmann Saturday and had a pleasant experience. The 10 square miles of concrete isn't my bag, though.
  2. Morel was my favorite cub. I'm still very bullish on his future. Think he becomes a passable defense somewhere on the field, and the bat is going to get louder. It is hard to dislike this trade, but I'm close. I will say, those who went on ad nauseum about Christopher having 0 trade value might want to take some time to reflect.
  3. I'm going to hold tight to the opinion that trading Morel would be a mistake. As said, he's pre-arb, has already made a significant adjustment at the plate (K/BB) and hits the ball incredibly hard. He's one final adjustment from being an offensive superstar, and though he may never take that step, he costs nothing but PAs on what is currently a middling team. Give him those PAs and see if he keeps growing.
  4. They obviously have had '25 targeted as the 'arrival' of their formidable stream of prospects. The hope being they could be a piecemeal playoff team this year, one not married to too many veterans who would dam the river of talent on its way.
  5. I feel almost certain they will have some quality PAs. That's the way it's going. Whether that means 2 or 3 runs and a narrow loss or 0 runs and an ass kicking is the only mystery.
  6. As a marketing phenomenon, Soto isn't in the same ballpark, no. Ohtani's existence has grown the game globally. His jersey is already the greatest selling of all time. He could play one season at Wrigley and that merch would sell forever. The ROI for signing him dwarfs any other player on the planet.
  7. I loved those Thibs teams so much and they've just obliterated all the goodwill built during that run.
  8. Ohtani is a special case. He creates revenue streams that Soto does not.
  9. I feel bad for Wesneski. He looks good in flashes and then falls apart. This entire season is just bizarre, though. I almost want to see SF sweep because it makes no sense.
  10. Taillon - 2.90 ERA Imanaga - 2.96 ERA Assad - 3.04 ERA Steele - 3.08 ERA If you had told me before the season that Steele would rank 4th amongst Cubs starters in ERA at 3.08, I would have guessed a 100-win pace at minimum. I know offense is down, but this horrsefeathers is crazy.
  11. So many guys knocking on the door.
  12. Luzardo has been the guy I've wanted for a few years now. It's all there.
  13. Busch is now tops in the NL central in OPS and wRC+.
  14. I think that was a Super Nintendo game.
  15. Yeah, Busch went through a Swanson-esque slump there. I find it almost more encouraging for his development that he went through that and seems to have adjusted.
  16. PCA has looked as bad at the plate as I can remember anyone looking. Swing and miss at spin and velocity, and in every possible zone. Really rooting for him to develop some kind of value at the plate, because the defense is spectacular.
  17. Michael Busch has the 2nd highest OPS in the NL Central.
  18. Busch is our only hope here. Feel like Helsley is probably going to mow right through them.
  19. Ballesteros added a single. Considering the SL run environment, what he's doing is very exciting. OPS up to .868. Feel like that # would actually go up if he got bumped to the PCL.
  20. Tauchman is 10th in the NL in OBP.
  21. At first I was annoyed at this forum's recent paradigm shift toward the old Cubs.com format of incessant whining about what amounts to standard issue variance, but now I'm starting to enjoy it. A bit of nostalgia. That said, I'm not beyond being frustrated by my team looking like horsefeathers.
  22. What exactly were everyone's expectations for Busch? He's a rookie with a 121 wRC+ on pace for about 3 WAR. There's a pretty decent chance he can improve on this, and he makes 740k.
  23. I can't read the BA list, but Law having Emmanuel Rodriguez at 28 means he's sound asleep, imo. That kid is on another level.
