  1. Man, Crochet/Fried/Steele/Imanaga/Taiilon with more depth than I can remember......
  2. Valid points about Tauchman. I still argue that this is a great time to pony up and overpay in a trade for an ace. If you can't overwhelm Detroit, move on to Seattle or San Diego. Steele and Imanaga would make an amazing 2/3.
  3. One thing I like about having Tauchman is that he's the kind of quality bench bat that keeps PAs away from 75wRC+ types. Perhaps that wouldn't happen, but I'm never going to fully recover from watching thousands of PAs in the 2000s- early 2010s go to guys who shouldn't have made the roster. Tauchman is devoid of power but is a pain in the ass AB no matter who is on the mound, and that has value.
  4. I know it's only the most recent ~30% of their respective mlb careers, but Amaya was just so much better (offensively) than O'Hoppe from July forward, Sending a heavy package of prospects for a guy that may well weaken the lineup doesn't seem ideal. I like O'Hoppe, and think he could have a good career, I just feel the same about Amaya, and would therefore rather spend prospect capital elsewhere.
  5. I envy your ability to think this way,
  6. It would be historically hilarious if the bears somehow win this game.
  7. Most definitely cut some weight. The next year or so is going to be very interesting. They've had a higher ceiling prospect group, obviously, but no quality logjam like this that I can remember. Could have 8 top 100 prospects in Iowa at some point next season. That's bonkers. (I'm sure they'll move some of these guys in the next few months, but still.)

  9. They will trade some of their overlauded farm for the next Mookie, land Sasaki and retool while winning the division in perpetuity.
  10. So very right-handed. Hard to construct a balanced lineup if Belli is replaced by a righty. You just have to stagger Happ, Busch and PCA amongst the 6 RHH.
  11. And those 170+ PAs include a very normal .290 babip and an ! 11% K rate. I would covet Amaya if he were on another team. Not saying they shouldn't look to improve, I just don't think there are that many clear improvements that could be available, and if they pencil him in as the primary catcher for '25, I won't be upset.
  12. Amaya after losing the leg kick was a 124 wRC+ bat. Not saying he's a lock for that production but struggling young players who make adjustments and get better are a real thing.
  13. I only proposed that because I think the Tigers could still field a competitive team next season while setting themselves up for a sustained run. Skubal will likely be gone in FA after 25. A deal centered around Horton, Wicks/Brown and Alcantara or along those lines would be productive for both teams.
  14. With the logjam of top 100 guys in AAA and a set OF if Bellinger returns, does it make sense to overwhelm the Tigers for the one year of Skubal?
  15. Alcantara has 143 PAs at Iowa this year and has posted a 124 wRC+ Every stop in which he's had at least that many PAs: 2022 (A) 124 wRC+ 2023 (A+) 124 wRC+ 2024 (AA) 124 wRC+ 2024 (AAA) 124 wRC+
  16. I'm just saying that them being 7th in runs scored despite not having a particularly loaded lineup is partially due to variance. Sequencing, luck, clutchness, however you look at it. The fact that people here are gnashing teeth over the offense and the pitching, yet, as you just laid out, it's been their baserunning and defense (also strengths of the Cubs) that have helped Milwaukee run away with things.
  17. It's not a fun answer, but variance is such a big part of this sport. Yes, you try to compensate by filling all the gaps, but the fact is Milwaukee ran away with the division and they have ONE qualified player over an .800 OPS. They gave Brice Turang (.675 OPS) 590 PAs and Sal Frelick (.648 OPS) 504 PAs The Cubs had 3 SP who would have been the Brewers best. Find holes and plug them but sometimes variance is the real enemy.
  18. The hell is with the Suzuki talk? He is the best hitter in the NL central.
  19. Can the organization please have hit the jackpot with Cam Smith? It would be so lovely to have a straight-to-superstar type.
  20. A 126wRC+ PCA with a long career is a H.O.F.
  21. Owen Cassie has a hell of a ceiling.
  22. Really like Cam Smith's swing.
  23. It would be oh so lovely for this organization to have a monster bat develop out of nowhere.
  24. Busch is 15th in the NL in OPS. IN 2003, that spot was occupied by....Sammy Sosa. Offensive #s aren't what they were but relative value is the same. It's pretty wild to see that there are 13 players in the NL with an OPS over .800. In 2019 there were 40.
