  1. Just curious, why have you been screaming this?
  2. Brujan can't do that. Or play the defense Shaw can.
  3. Shaw, Wiggins, Long, Triantos for Ryan, Castro, Jax incoming
  4. Shaw had a hit yesterday, and had a line out as well. This seems strange.
  5. I think that sometimes these guys just need something to say.
  6. I know they won't trade him, but I would basically let the Marlins pick their price for Eury Perez.
  7. If Shaw hits a HR here, the Cubs will definitely win the WS.
  8. If I was going to cast a farmer from the 1930's who murders local residents, I would cast Ian Hamilton.
  9. Looks like 31-12 to end the 1st half. Best record in MLB over that timespan, I'm sure.
  10. Obviously a K rate that high is a red flag, and correlates strongly with offensive struggles. I was only saying there exist precedents where it has worked.
  11. Yeah, Riley Greene is around 32% and has a 139 wRC+. Caissie should walk more than Greene out of the gate. I think he's ready.
  12. It's funny, I kind of disagree with everyone. While the constant gnashing of teeth over small sample sizes is always annoying, I also have a hard time with the push to adopt a completely dispassionate objectivity, where we simply watch and nod silently at the randomness inherent in the sport. I can recognize that Ian Happ is a good baseball player and that he has hit into some bad luck recently. I am also pained by some of his PAs, and wish someone were on base more often for the historically brutal gauntlet that is Tucker/Suzuki/PCA/Busch (All top 10 in NL wRC+, bonkers) I love analytics and taking time to be objective and parse data, but emotion is a big part of the recipe that makes fandom enjoyable as well. Sometimes I even yell at the t.v.
  13. Yep, 4 in a row and a dramatic win last night. Very good LHP vs Flexen and Wicks. On paper, not good. Winning these kinds of games is one of the best things about regular- season baseball.
  14. Turner and Berti both have a wRC+ of 70 Brujan has a wRC+ of 4. Bad is likely an improvement. There is also value in getting those first PAs behind them. If Long puts up a 75 wRC+ for his first 150 PAs, that's already a step up. Add in the potential to make an adjustment and take off, and it becomes a pretty obvious move to me.
  15. Would love to be wrong, but this sure feels like a 14-1 type blowout, where Judge goes deep 3 times. Happ solo shot for the silver lining.
  16. Agree completely. If I'm Hoyer, I probably don't mortgage the farm to get two top guys this summer. This was just a WS-or-bust, all-in for 2025 scenario.
  17. It's easy to forget the little things in his profile that add to Caissie's value. It kind of feels like he should be a liability in the field and on the bases, but he's neither of those things. He will certainly K, but those skills, as well as the power, will translate. He's ready.
  18. So, boredom has led me to post my 100/100, "all-in" scenario. I do not claim that these trades would be endorsed by the respective GMs, nor do I claim that I would make them if I were Hoyer. This is a WS-or-bust deadline recipe, just for fun and discussion. Twins receive: Moises Ballesteros, Jaxon Wiggins, Kevin Alcantara, BJ Murray Jr. Cubs receive: Joe Ryan, Willie Castro ‐---------------- Marlins receive: Ben Brown, Christian Hernandez, Jonathan Long Cubs receive: Edward Cabrera ----------------- Orioles receive: Jefferson Rojas, Brandon Birdsell Cubs receive: Felix Bautista You can parse the details, but I would argue that the resulting team would be WS favorites. The farm is utterly decimated, though we retain Owen Caissie to cover the potential departure of Kyle Tucker.
  19. Caissie July 3 2 HR July 4 3 hits 2B, BB July 5 2 HR July 6 3 hits 2B, BB July 8 2 HR Owen Cassie stan here, but if he has 3 hits with a 2B and a BB tonight, trade him cause he's playing with black magic.
  20. I think we discussed Rojas staying put at SB a few weeks ago, but that promotion has to be coming after the break, right? He's at nearly 700 PAs there, and has a 140 wRC+ as one of the youngest players in A+.
