  1. It's just one game, but the Brewers have been much better in this one.
  2. Boog sometimes sounds downright joyful when the Cubs fail.
  3. Pressly gives up lots of hard contact and doesn't miss bats. Bad combo.
  4. He just doesn't have it today. Been obvious from the 1st inning.
  5. Lol I was about to say Boyd is going to give up a solo shot soon.
  6. Really don't think sticking with Boyd is a smart call here.
  7. It was pretty obvious that, unless he got lucky, Boyd was going to give up the lead there. Would be nice to have Rea or Assad in the pen to come in in those situations and get 3 or 4 innings.
  8. To offer Caissie, Wiggins and Horton or Shaw for a guy like Gore is a massive overpay (and I love Gore). Quintana's return was two top-100 prospects and he was a considerably more valuable pitcher (three 4.0+ fWAR seasons to Gore's 0) with the same amount of control.
  9. Yeah, I didn't know exactly how to highlight that I was joking in text. If it's Caissie for Keller however, I riot.
  10. We had better be getting Eury Perez lol
  11. I think Ben Brown is going to be very good today.
  12. Nico has been the most valuable 2b in baseball, so I don't think they're going to move him. I do think Jed might pull something unexpected, though.
  13. If Caissie's K-rate is such a red flag, then teams should be willing to instead accept some of the other top-100 prospects on the farm. The kid is going to hit a great deal of HR in the major leagues. I want those to be for the Cubs.
  14. I just meant guys in the Skenes, Skubal, Degrom, Misiorowski, 2015 Arrieta mold. Wicked stuff that plays even when they are shaky.
  15. There are grind-it-out, gutsy- performance aces and there are blow- you-away, high-octane, no-hit-threat aces. Obviously this is not a scientific analysis, but I can see the desire, at least from a fan perspective, to have one of the latter fronting your rotation, especially heading into the playoffs. Unfortunately, those kinds of guys aren't common, or commonly available.
  16. Every time someone defends Busch sitting against LHP, I'm reminded of the same refrain about Schwarber. I kept arguing that he should get more PAs against them and was often met with these same arguments. A great hitter should get plenty of runway against same- handed pitching.
  17. What happened to his K rate this year? I notice the HRs have dropped as well.
  18. We have to stop using earned runs to evaluate relievers. I'm not sure why that's been happening around here like it's 2004. 5 of Pressly's last 23 appearances have been clean. He has a 15%K rate and a 50% hard- hit rate. Does that mean he's done and should be dfa'd? Not necessarily. But in no way should we be surprised when he gives up some runs.
