We are a few days away from August, the official start of the playoff run, the Cubs can not allow Tallion to continue taking up a spot on the roster. Jameson needs to be DFA soon.

We could have easily had the sweep if we didn't keep trotting Taillon out there. There's no excuse for him to take another start in a Cubs uniform.

It’s days like today that has me pining for our lost starters too.  Imagine if it’s Horton or even Steele on the mound pitching at 80%.  That’s an easy sweep.

Hopefully that was the last start of Taillon as a Cub but they could be forced to go one more until the deadline.

It is dangerously hot there, so I get it. But I turned on the Reds v Cards game in the 10th right when there was a wide shot, and I legitimately wondered if something happened in St Louis today that caused them not to allow fans in the ballpark. Again, I wouldn't want to be there either

It pains me but there is no way you can let him start again.  He even seemed resigned to it in his post game interview.  How could you not?  I'll forever be grateful for his two post-season starts but you can't pitch at this level if you give up three homers a game.....you just can't.  Especially when the first two are homer or strikeout guys that can only homer on egregious mistakes, which JAMO obliged with.

Yep, imagine game day the pressure on the position players feeling like they need to put up 10 runs before a pitch is even thrown. 

It's  the total opposite and more of having that good feeling for games when that big Ace is on the mound and you know all you gotta do is get 1 or 2 runs and itll be enough

He needs to either volunteer to have shoulder pains for 2 months or release so he can hook up with a team that not contending to try and figure it out.

No reason for him to make another start for the cubs again

Yes, CC and the Twinkle's are going to have to have a hard conversation with him.  I just can't see justifying running him out there against the Yankees.  We've already punted two wins against lesser teams.

Very sad to see Taillon go out like this. I remember him coming up as a phenom with Pittsburgh (I feel like every 2-3 years they have another big time pitching prospect they’re unable to hold onto). Now he’s as cooked as a well done steak.

Yeah, that's what some people are saying.  Like yesterday, we were up by 11.  We could've used Jamo.  But, if we have enough bullpen, either Jamo or Civale (or both) needs to be DFA'd.

It's sad. kind of like the last year with Kyle Hendricks.  At least, Jamo and Kyle are older than someone like Zac Gallen, who is just as bad this year. and much younger.

He doesn't have a long relief profile. The stuff just isn't really going to play up much in a shorter outing. The fastball sat at 92mph today - what's the bump we expect in two or three inning spurts? 93? 94mph? Average RHP velocity is 95mph out of the pen. So it'll still be below average. And there isn't a secondary worth writing home about. His K% is 21.2% That's below MLB average. I don't see anything that gets it back to even average. 

He's on the last year of his deal and the Cubs, in theory, should be adding 2-4 players between today and August 3rd. Aaron Civale should be one of the easiest cuts on the roster but beyond that, who's next? Hollowell? He's looking interesting. Tyler Ferguson? Maybe! But he's rocking a 3.72 xFIP and striking out almost a third of hitters faced, so maybe he's more interesting than Jamo. 

And then you get to the point where, Javier Assad and Colin Rea just do it better. If you need a reliever to eat 2-4 innings, those guys first, please. When one of Cabrera or Brown gets back (hopefully) someone else needs a bump. And well..,I'd rather have those two in that role. Many times that role is asked to keep the game within striking distance; just keep it within four and maybe the offense can come back in. Today the Cubs scored 7 to come back. I don't trust Jamo to keep the game close in a game where you need those innings early in a game. 

I appreciate the things Jamo has done; and I think some people's reactions are over the top. But it's also probably time the Cubs say goodbye. He doesn't really profile as a reliever. The Cubs have better long relief options. His deal is expiring so it's a full-sunk cost. The math works out that he's an easy cut over the next seven days. So maybe he isn't cut today, and maybe he can give you one more "get you through" outing, but come August 4th, it's not hard to see where he's an easy one to let go.

Yep. He seems like a great teammate and overall good guy, but he has to be cut. He can’t take his next start. Assad has to be who pitches Friday. And if Taillon isn’t in the rotation there is no place for him. They have to dfa him asap.
