    Agree with a few of those listed. I do miss .300+ hitters and scheduled double-headers. If anything, MLB needs more showboating. Showboats upset racist white folks and I’m here for that.

    how do we feel about current mlb players going to their former mlb team's playoff games and cheering them on? i'm torn on this. do i think it's cool that former rays are rooting for them in person? yeah. would i be fine with a current cubs player going to one of their former team's playoff games and rooting them on? seriously doubt it. at the end of the day, (most) mlb players are fans of baseball so i get it. but also the optics are really weird.

    falling down a baseball-reference.com rabbit hole (as one does), i look into the 1985 st. louis cardinals. not sure how many of you remember jack clark but the dude could hit monster home runs, take a walk and was also a massive horsefeathers-talker. got into arguments with just about all of the managers he played under, talked horsefeathers about his teammates (famously got into a 40-minute clubhouse fight with tony gwynn stating gwynn only cared about padding his stats and not winning games), filed for bankruptcy (owed supposedly $7.5m, owned 18 cars and was in the process of paying for 17 of them, among other things) and, when he became a sports talk radio personality after his career ended, accused albert pujols of doing PEDs which made pujols file a lawsuit against clark. click on the VIEW PLAYER BIO link from the SABR bio project when you're on these player pages. great stuff!

    it's fascinating that they're able to put up the offensive numbers they do without relying on the 3-run homer, or home runs at all. tied for 28th in MLB in home runs this year, 22nd in 2025. 5th in MLB in stolen bases this year, 2nd in 2025. very 1980s "whiteyball" type of play.

    known about this incident since i was like 10 and seen this video many many times. this would never happen in today's game due to replay but HOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLY horsefeathers. if this were to happen to the cubs (pre-replay) in a playoff game, much less a world series game...i would destroy my apartment and everything in it.

    the contreras brothers are two players that you horsefeathers hate if they're not on your team. if william was on the cubs doing this horsefeathers, we would love him. i rather have that than some non-emotional walking booger like kyle tucker.

    I don’t see a regular general cubs chit chat thread anywhere so I’ll throw this here: This might be the most stressful Cubs game I’ve ever seen. Physically and mentally exhausted by the end. What a strange horsefeathers game this was.
