I'm the OP, and I expected the Cubs to win 93 games.  After getting swept by the Reds, I'm not sure.  I still hope they win 3 or 4 more games in Chicago.  Either way, as long as we can keep the #1 wild card spot, it would be all good.

I guess the Reds was in Must Win situation for the rest of the season, and the Cubs weren't as serious about winning.  That said, Rea and Jamo pitched really well.  And, that was the only good thing about the series.

I think it's too late for Amaya and Tucker to come back in the wild card.  Jamo should be on the roster.  I mean for the last one month, he's the 2nd best pitcher for the Cubs.  He probably won't start, but he should be in.  At this moment, I would take him over Pomeranz, Soroka, Rogers, Rea, Assad  Civale, and even Palencia.  We definitely need these guys, Imanaga, Boyd, Horton, Theilbar, Kittredge and Keller.  Add Jamo to that roster.

I would actually add Jamo as a definite based on how he has been pitching. He might even get game 3, as Chibear suggested a few or so back. I do think if that happened Boyd would make the roster.

The Cubs will almost surely fall short of 93 games.  The good news is SD has to play the Brewers and they still have something to play for but I think the Cubs must win 2 of the last 6 and 3 of 6 will all but guarantee home field.

The Cubs really needed to not get swept this weekend.  Nice job making it unnecessarily dramatic guys 👍👍.

Billy Hamilton didn't get into the last two Iowa games and was thrown out in his last two SB attempts.... I wonder if the experiment is over ?

And, SD will play against the Dbacks, which are still trying to get the last Wild Card spot.

Tired? Of what? They don’t do anthing

Sometimes doing nothing can be exceedingly exhausting:

-waiting at the gate of a delayed flight;

-waiting at the doctor's office;

-sitting on a bus/in the car

-facing below-average MLB pitching.

Never thought I would say "Go Brewers".  They were up by 1 run against the Padres in the 7th inning.  And, I'm actually watching the game, just to see the Brewers beat the Padres.

I'm rooting for SD because I think the Cubs can win enough games to still get the WC spot but I think it's more valuable for the Padres and Dodgers to go down to the wire.

2.5 up on the Padres. I'm assuming now that the Cubs lost all 4 to the Reds they now would lose the tiebreaker if they end up tied for #4? Just split these last 6 games please

If the Cubs don’t start winning  -  hello playing games in San Diego.

After blowing a five-run lead last night for their fifth straight loss, it's time for the front office to get to work on a line-up for next year. What happened before the All-Star Game was an aberration. What we've seen since is what we have going into the playoffs. Losing two straight and going home looks like a distinct possibility.

PCA, Shaw, and Swanson (assuming their under contract for next year) need to spend the off-season learning how to reliably bunt for base hits. Right now, I hate to see any of them come up to bat with runners in scoring position.

We're going to San Diego anyways (lol) but did anyone get lucky with the WC lottery?  I've literally never gotten selected and I've entered into every lottery possible since they started doing it in 2008.  The Cubs must hate me for using 300 windows to get through the virtual waiting room to get tickets to the 2007 NLDS before they implemented the lottery.

Damn forgot about it. Will try for NLDS if they make it(LOL)

Last lottery I got thru on was 2016 NLCS- got 4 tickets to game 2. It was between that game or game 6. I made a terrible decision.

A friend of mine got in there for the 2015 NLDS, or he went to the clinch game at least (I assume he must have been picked).

Can someone clarify which team holds the tie-breaker between the Cubs and Padres. This article posted today (on MLB.com) states it's still undetermined: Link

"Who holds the tiebreaker between the Cubs and Padres?
Chicago and San Diego tied in their season series, 3-3, so the next tiebreaker would be intradivision record. In that category, San Diego (29-20 vs. NL West) would have the edge over the Cubs (27-22 vs. NL Central). If those records are even, Intraleague Play showing breaks the tie (the Cubs are 59-51, while the Padres are 67-44)."

The Cubs currently have 89 wins and the Padres have 87. The only way the two teams can tie would be for the Padres to go 2-1 (with the Cubs going 0-4) or going 3-0 (with the Cubs going 1-3) in their remaining games. In both of these scenarios, it gives the Padres the better intradivision record.

So there's no scenario where the Cubs could/would hold a tie-breaker, right?

This was being discussed in another thread (a game thread, I think?) and I believe your conclusion here is correct. SD catching the Cubs would necessitate them winning the tiebreaker.

Or the Padres going 3-0 with the Cubs going 0-4 and with SD winning it outright.

I wonder who would start a game three for the Padres.  Darvish is sadly pretty clearly washed at this point, and King has been a mess since coming off the IL.  King is going tonight, so I assume if he looks good they roll the dice that he's fixed, and if not they go bullpen game?  Maybe throw Yu if the wind is blowing in and you think that can help mitigate the dongs?
