Well I wont get to watch either game because apparently MLB hates ratings and puts the games in the middle of the week in the middle of the day when 90% of the country is at work.

Its funny you think 90% of the country works during the day

I seriously don’t get the Mets, like at all.

This is a club that won 101 games in 2022, then the owner spennds $330+ million on new players in the offseason and they end up winning 75 games in 2023. They made some more signings after that season and they won 89 games last year. After the 2024 season, they signed Alonso back in 2025 for a $54 million contracts, two new pitches for $34-38 million contracts and Juan Soto for a $765 million contract and have now missed the postseason in 2025.

I’ve never seen a club become worse after improving the roster as much as the Mets.

The tragically inevitable salary cap isn’t going to save small markets from big markets, its going to save big markets from themselves haha

I actually really like the Reds chances in the wildcard round.  I'm actually planning to throw a little money at them.

Hunter Greene is as good as anyone.  Win his start and then you just need to squeak out one more.  I'd be surprised if they make it past the NLDS, and shocked if they take down any of the other teams in a 7 game series, but they're scary in the wildcard round IMO.

I agree here.  I think Green and Abbot both will be pretty tough and match up well with Yamamoto and whoever else the Dodgers start.  And the Dodgers bullpen really sucks even worse than the Reds bullpen, but they may do what they did last year and use a starter or two in the pen for these games?

Reds don't have as much hitting as the Dodgers and that may in the end be the difference.

And this is what many of us want the Cubs to be.  Of course, the Cubs take it to the other extreme.  Maybe some middle ground would be nice?  We are playing another team this week who before their t.v. contract imploded, dished out several huge - long term contracts.  They have had more success than the Mets for sure.  But ask their fans and they are disappointed with their regular season this year - and they missed the playoffs in 21 and 23....so I guess the moral is big spending doesn't always work out.   But at least it means you are trying.  But when it doesn't work so well the inevitable - we're paying all that money for this??? - comes out.

One of these days someone is going to realize the Dodgers sustained success has just as much to do withtheir productive player development system as it does their extremely high payroll

I don't think this is really true anymore.  It used to be extremely true, but the only good players they've developed and graduated in the last 5 years are Andy Pages and Michael Busch.  And they're not finding Max Muncy and Justin Turner types anymore either.

They've quietly turned into a throw money at the problem team.  And that's fine, the league could use a west coast Yankees, but let's be real that this isn't the same Dodgers org as it was in like 2018.

I'd rather have Boog and Doug but not getting stuck with Ravech and company is fantastic.  Probably got the second best crew in my opinion.

Look no further than going out and getting Tanner Scott and Kirby Yates.  There bullpen was a weakness last year so this was to fix it - but it's been worse and both of these guys have been in a word - terrible.   The Cubs have in turn gotten multiple bargain basement bullpen arms who are better.

I'm pro Sean McDonough in all circumstances, but yeah, not having the SNB team made everything else gravy.

tons of places around petco to find that. rosie o'grady's in Normal Heights is the best chicago bar in san diego and would be a 10ish minute uber from downtown.

Kinda sucks we couldn't get Boog, Doug, and T-Mac. But at least we don't get the Ravech crew.

I already said that Ding Dong! 😜

Honestly, I can do without Boog.   I'll be diplomatic and leave it at that.   Would love to see JD - but I really like Ben MacDonald as a color analyst so not that big an issue just because of that.

So they are going with Rea over Taillon?

I don't believe we know yet how the pitching is supposed to go.  I think the beat writers are at the park right now (I saw Montemurro post a pic from the press box a little bit ago) so I'd imagine we find out in the next little bit.
