  1. It’s crazy to me that this is a thing in soccer, a sport that can be played anywhere at any time for absolutely zero money. my kids play ice hockey and this is the norm, but hockey is inherently an expensive sport even if you live in an area where ponds and lakes routinely freeze for extended periods of time. Bare bones equipment alone (used skates/helmet/stick) is gonna be $100 and realistically you need to spends 100s just to get started. Skating well is also such a unique skill that you can only acquire while doing it on ice for years and years. And ice rinks are limited. the fact that people spend more on some travel soccer teams than hockey is completely insane.
  2. After surgery he’s expected to recover in 4 months. He’ll miss all offseason training, training camp, preseason and first month+ of season. The new guys are gonna get a dozen or so games to see if they can be productive without Bedard.
  3. That’s a normal and healthy response.
  4. Yeah. That could have been 4-1 early, not just in the end. USA panicked every touch. Nobody wanted the ball.
  5. Pulisoft
  6. THEY FINALLY RESIGNED THEIR MOST IMPORTANT RFA!!! Drew Commesso will be back for 2, and the second year he’ll most likely be the primary backup to Knight
  7. How do you chant “he’s not gay he’s just English” en espanol?
  8. On his own. Nobody shoved him. If Davidson had balls he’d hold this against him but he already caved on Byram and probably has no nuts.
  9. That’s a fascinating move I think somebody was going to do with Bedard before he got hurt. It makes a ton of sense. Chicago should do the same with Robertson. You’d be lucky to ever replicate the production of one star over 4 drafts. If you’re picking 15 every year you hope those guys can eat NHL minutes
  10. Two non contact shoulder injuries. Bedards got a little Jack Hughes in him, wonder if they can get him on as team friendly of a second contract as Hughes.
  11. Increases the odds of Landin’ DuPont
  12. Fredrik Andersen to Oilers
  13. I’ve hated the rebuild from day one. It’s a waste of years of fan money that isn’t going to work until they hit on outside help. If Bedard is happy with Byram and willing to sign they have a chance of one day making the playoffs but Davidson is going to have to switch gears in a big way before they will threaten to win a series or two. As for this offseason, unless they go after Robertson or some other big ticket item there really isn’t much worth adding in free agency. They need a RHD but probably somebody no better than Grelcyk as a 3rd pairing depth guy. They signed a couple penalty killer types to replace Murphy and Mikhayev. Kantserov, Lardis and Frondell are going to be counted on to fuel offensive improvement on the front end and they desperately need Byram to be who they think he is at the point.
  14. Dylan Anhorn, assume he’s Rockford bound
  15. And traded for Nurse. San Jose dgaf about the cap
  16. It’s only 4 years though and 8% of the cap for a team with a ton of cap space. He’ll be gone before their rising D start getting paid.
  17. Toronto signs Bob and Edmonton trades for Levi
  18. Sharks sign Trouba. They have really made over their blue line.
  19. That Harry bloke is good
  20. Mason Marchment, 7th on the athletic free agent big board, is the highest rated guy to sign. Going to San Jose from Columbus winnipeg sign Skinner as a backup (or replacement) for Hallebuyck
  21. Mikheyev signs 4 years under 4m aav. Hawks get a 4th line penalty killing forward Cole Smith for 3/3aav. also Ian Cole 1/4, who’s a LH penalty killing D. they have a plethora of LHD and only 2 RHD. Byram is probably going to be on his off hand.
  22. Montreal extends Ivan Demidov to 8 year and 9.5m aav, another reminder of the missteps along the way in Davidsons plan. Arty’s inability to show signs of improvement is a major factor why they made such a bad trade and contract for Byram. Ivan would easily be the second best forward on the Blackhawks. see also Nico Hischier, a proven top 6 center and captain signing for fewer years and lower AAV than the unproven Byram.
  23. 12+ aav for a second pairing defenseman from a team that won one round of playoffs. Highest paid D in the league (for now). unbelievable asset management silliness by Kyle. have to assume Bedard soars past this number.
