  1. I saw him give up a walk off walk to Nolan Schanuel last year at a game in Anaheim. It really wasn’t his fault after he was brought into the game with the bases loaded in extras, but that is what comes to mind when I see his name.
  2. My 17 year old let out his first screaming F bomb in front me and my wife when Busch connected with that ball. “Get the F out of here!” 🤣 He turned and looked at us and said, “So I got a little excited.” My 12 year old walked in from the porch and said, “Did he just yell the F word.” Pretty fun moment and memory to have!
  3. I fully expect Morejon and Miller to pitch if they need them to. I don’t think they are off limits at all.
  4. I’m more excited and looking forward to watching the Cubs in a meaningful game than I am nervous about the outcome. 70/30 I’d say. It is nice to feel this again after years of irrelevance. Having said that, that might flip as soon as the Padres threaten in the first inning! Don’t want to be a broken record, but yes, the Cubs need to score early. It would be nice to take the lead first and play from ahead for a change.
  5. I received an invite but it keeps saying “you have exceeded your allowable transactions.” Never even got to the point of selecting seats.
  6. Yes, it will most likely be SD/LA, but the SD loss gives more cushion for the Cubs to host the WC series. That is my preferred outcome at this point.
  7. OK, Pressly Has been DFA’d. Guesses on the other moves? Hollowell and Kriske are obvious candidates. Does Turner survive the Castro addition?
  8. At the start of this 9 game road trip I likely would have taken a 4-5 outcome. Finishing the trip with a winning record would be outstanding and is still on the table.
  9. Not necessarily advocating for it but I think he is going to be a popular ask based on his performance. Of course it all depends on who the Cubs are targeting, but I would be interested to see how teams evaluate Alcantara/Caissie/Long.
  10. Where does Long rank on the most likely to be dealt list come trade deadline?
  11. Long is performing well enough to see him be a popular ask from other teams come July.
  12. I mean, good for the Dodgers for just saying “F it” and flexing their might. Must be nice. The folks at BN sure are teetering on freak out mode. Can’t quite get a handle on them at times. The same outfit will produce an overly positive write up when the Cubs sign Dylan Floro or someone of that magnitude and attempt to explain why it was a better use of resources.
  13. A much needed win. Pfaadt graduated from the same university I played at so that is very cool to see but I didn’t mind the homers!
  14. I actually remembered my login info. Hey, guys!
  15. Let me know whenever you need tickets. Getting the call in 2013 ended up being perfect timing. My 13 year old is experiencing his first truly bad Cubs team. I've been able to pretty much break even since 2016, but I don't have much confidence in that over the next couple of years.
  16. The latest podcast from Goldstein and Logenhagen had some discussion on Alcantata, Caissie, and Preciado. It was brought up in reference to a complex game between the Cubs and Rockies. Benny Montgomery was playing for Colorado and Logenhagen mentioned how it isn't even close between Alcantara and Montgomery right now. Said scouts agreed Alcantara was the better prospect. The larger point was the difference between the draft and IFA. They used Alcantara as an example of a guy who is more advanced physically and has a better swing than a kid who was a top 10 pick just a month ago. Small mention of Preciado's approach needing a lot of work.
  17. Carraway has really struggled. Still remember a lot of the pundit talk of him possibly being brought up to the bullpen last year. Clearly has the stuff, but the command has been pretty awful.
  18. I’m attending a conference in Baltimore in April that aligns perfectly with the Cubs series. Some dumb luck working out in my favor for once. Also bought seats last night for the opening game of the series against the Yankees. Christmas gift for my boys. Ive been trying to take them to a different park each summer the last couple of years.
  19. Curious to see where in the first round the Cubs will be picking. Currently sitting at #19, which would be their highest selection since 2015.
  20. Hamels numbers since being acquired: In 25 starts 154 Innings 125 hits allowed 148 K’s 153 ERA+
  21. For anyone who doesn’t know, Borden is (well, was...he just graduated) one of my students/players.
  22. Borden was invited to Wrigley last weekend but couldn’t attend. State rules won’t allow him to workout while he is still in season. That's an idiotic state rule. Yep. I can’t see a reasonable explanation for it to exist. Sucks for the kid.
  23. Borden was invited to Wrigley last weekend but couldn’t attend. State rules won’t allow him to workout while he is still in season.
  24. Thanks. They have certainly been hot on his trail recently. I’d love it.
