  1. I have this odd urge to buy an Alex Bregman Cubs jersey right now. Not sure why, can't quite put my finger on the reason.
  2. Just remember, 3rd time is a charm. I look forward to the next official introduction thread.
  3. Well, it is a good thing The Cubs Dude did not start a thread titled 'Introduction: The Cubs Dude' as his first post here on December 19th. That would be a really odd similarity, and even if it did happen, pure coincidence of course. 🤓 Edit - After further review, not his first post, plus it was Re-Introduction. Carry on. 😋
  4. Yeah it was 1987, I was a 5th grader at the time. Keith Moreland hit a home run that day as well. I was most excited about seeing Andre Dawson play, he was my first favorite Cub. I had an Andre's Army t-shirt.
  5. I don't have anything productive to add to this thread other than I love the username. Manny Trillo hit a walk-off HR in the first game I attended at Wrigley Field.
  6. I don't see ND getting left out. That tight loss to TAMU will carry a lot of weight. Plus, I want to see an IU-ND rematch on a neutral field in the playoff.
  7. If the Bears can't be good without actively making me think WTF just happened or how the heck they just won, I think I would be lost tbh.
  8. Bears at Commanders, what could possibly go wrong? >Insert one million replays of the Fail Mary in the coming days<
  9. I thought they did a decent job of giving various players days off. Willi Castro was subbing in almost every day for somebody, or so it seemed.
  10. I don't believe any of Counsell's decisions are made in a vacuum, there certainly has to be input from the analytics side. Brewers have just been flat out the better team in the first two games and I don't believe any other combination of pitcher sequencing would change the outcome very much. Taillon is the current hot hand so there is hope for Game 3. The offense though, for the love of all that is holy please score more than 3 runs.
  11. Are you really going to gloss over Counsell dying his hair? Disgusting behavior! The rest is whatever.
  12. Say what you will about the pitching strategy and decision-making, but what gets me tonight is scoring 3 runs in the first inning and then getting blanked on 2 hits the final 8 innings on a bullpen day for the Brewers. The 7 runs on the 3 dongs is rough, but man fight back and make it a game!
  13. Offense has to score of course but man, a one run deficit against the Padres bullpen already felt rough and that lead tripling to 3-0 had to feel even worse. Probably did not matter enough to quibble too much about. Just hope the Cubs can score first tomorrow to put all the pressure on SD.
  14. I got his autograph before a game at Wrigley in 1996. I had seats right behind the Cubs bullpen on the 3rd base line and he autographed the scorecard from my game program. Very nice dude!
  15. Is Julio Zuleta available to perform a ritual on them?
  16. I felt the same way at the time.
  17. What keeps me up at night is thinking about how 2 of the 3 best starters in the current rotation (Boyd & Horton) could run out of runway by the time October comes due to innings. I get that the top level of starters did not get dealt at all, probably due to insane price tags. But shoot, I'd take my chances on a pitcher outside that group (Adrian Houser for example) for depth and insurance. And a guy like Houser, you could have made that deal before July 31st.
  18. @UMFan83 The Wolverines seem to have their mojo back!
  19. Literally the entire Lions defensive roster is injured, if there was ever a moment for the Bears to actually rebound and win a game, this is it. That being said, Lions by 10.
  20. Obviously a deal made to free up cash to upgrade the bullpen or whatever. I'm okay with it.
  21. Caleb is showing development. Yes, taking the sack on 2nd down in OT was bad, but he knows it was bad and he will learn from it. The 3rd down on Minnesota's ensuing possession, to sit back and rush 4 and play zone was so weak. Letting the Vikings convert that situation so easily, I knew it was over in that moment.
  22. The road to 4-13 continues!
