Cease has some Edwin Jackson/Javy Vazquez to him, but the preponderance of what we've got says it's probably more bad defense than anything inherent to him.

Brewers, the regular season, play the game the right way, just relentlessly attack you offense: 9.1% BB rate, 20.3% K rate, .145 ISO... .305 BABIP

Brewers, the post-season, least hits over a four game stretch in franchise history offense: 9.0% BB rate, 21.3% K rate, .147 ISO... .231 BABIP

It's such a dumb sport why do I like it so much

Come on. If they (or any team) is facing playoff caliber pitching their offensive number are going to dip.

But you would think facing better pitching would result in an uptick in strikeouts or a decrease in walks, as those are typically the best metrics in determining the quality of pitching.

I like Cease and think he'd be a very good fit. He has been extremely durable but do we get worried about the length of time since his TJ in high school? Not to go full Tom..

I actually would love the Cubs to offer him a 5 yr deal with 45 mill the first year and 30 million the next 4. 5 years 165 million. With an opt out after year 1 and 3

You lost me at opt outs.

FWIW since I think we spent a lot of time worrying about this

And he tripled tonight off of Ashby on this pitch

Hes the only lefty in the game who can pull that, however weakly, for a triple. Im not watching but how?

Ashby was a real problem for the Cubs, one of the biggest differences in the series. Murphy knew we couldn't touch him.

Silvering lining for the Brewers? The Dodgers had to use their bullpen in this game.

Nah, Brewers are stuffed.

Obviously between the Brewers and the Dodgers I have no special rooting interest, but I will say I hate that the Dodgers strategy of "Spend more money than God" is working for them.

Didn't Seiya hit a 3 run dong off him?

Yeah, it's fun to laugh at the Brewers, but for one thing I hate that this is giving ammunition to the much-too-large subset of fans that are on the owners' side in pushing for a salary cap, and for a second it is a bit annoying that LA just gets to buy whoever they want in part because their TV contract came up at the exact right time in the cable bubble cycle.

That's why I hate the Dodgers.  Only good thing they did for the Cubs last winter was signing Tanner Scott.  Maybe, he'll be better next year, but he was really bad this year, and the Cubs tried to get him.

Dodgers take an early 1-0 lead in Game 4 and the Brewers are going to need to do something they haven’t done all series. Score 2 runs.

Geno Suarez has largely been a dud as a Mariner.  It would be really cool if this is the start of one of his patented Alfonso Soriano style hot streaks.
