I seriously don’t get the Mets, like at all.

This is a club that won 101 games in 2022, then the owner spennds $330+ million on new players in the offseason and they end up winning 75 games in 2023. They made some more signings after that season and they won 89 games last year. After the 2024 season, they signed Alonso back in 2025 for a $54 million contracts, two new pitches for $34-38 million contracts and Juan Soto for a $765 million contract and have now missed the postseason in 2025.

I’ve never seen a club become worse after improving the roster as much as the Mets.

They hired Stearns, we hired Counsell, and the Brewers somehow got better

I need to find a good watch party around Petco since I'll be in the neighborhood Wednesday and Thursday. And hopefully surrounded by angry San Diegoites.

I'd like to see Rea starting for the game 1 against the Brewers.  That gives other SP's to rest an extra day, and the last two games in the season, Rea was awesome.

What do you guys think?

Yeah I think especially with the game being sandwiched by off days you don't overthink it: just pitch Rea and have a quick trigger finger for the bullpen.

I think there's a very good chance it will be Rea with Soroka piggybacking.

Who are the Brewers starting after Peralta? Priester? Is Woodruff healthy?

Unknown i believe.  Woodruff is still a question mark.  On the IL with a lat strain since Sept 18.

You wonder if Assad could be added to the roster, but there's no room for him.  We're lucky that basically everyone in the pen has been effective for us. *knock on wood

I would bet they swap a position player for a pitcher with the longer series and unless there's a surprise, I assume it's probably Assad that gets added unless they know Horton will be available for a game.

I agree Assad will be added. I would be shocked if it was Horton instead. I think best case scenerio for him is he is in the rotation for thr NLCS.

Counsell is going to ride his starting hitters all postseason long. I think guys like Castro or Mo are rarely (if ever) going to see playing time. Swapping a bat for an arm makes perfect sense

I think it will be Alcantara left off the next roster.

yeah, Castro can run well enough to PR for a slow-footed guy at the right time and can fill in so many positions. And you know PCA isn't coming off the field for anything but an injury... And you can replace someone who gets injured, right? Like if PCA slams headfirst into the bricks to make a catch and is out the rest of the series, they could bring in Alcantara for the next game, right?

I think if you replace someone mid-series they're out for the next one, so in that hypothetical you would use Castro in CF unless PCA was going to be out a week+

Woodruff (Lat strain) is pretty certain to be out correct?

I believe Woodruff is out but Quintana is probably back. I'd assume

Peralta

Priester

Patrick

Quintana

Peralta

Though with the off days it's actually doable to go to Peralta and Priester 2x each if you are comfortable with 4 days rest.  Might be a case where Quintana goes game 4 if they're up Peralta goes if they're down.

If Tucker were ok to play the OF tomorrow , I would probably sit Happ and his 2-32 line againts Peralta and have Mo as DH

So, you're saying Seiya at the LF?  That would work.  He played the LF a few times, and he did OK.

putting the cart before the horse here but is there a scenario where the cubs have home field advantage in the world series?

I believe it's simple record, no H2H or anything.  So we'd have it against the M's or Tigers but not against the Jays or Yankees.
