  1. This Yankee game today makes me feel a lot less crappy about the Cubs performance yesterday.
  2. St. James
  3. It says a lot about the character of a man who’s making millions and blames his cheating on a Fed Ex driver making 20-something an hour
  4. Speaking of this, I was reading the ESPN article on biggest trade deadline rental impacts and I couldn’t believe they didn’t have the Sutcliffe trade in there. That was crazy. He went like 16-1.. He was amazing after that trade.
  5. Thanks, appreciate it — does it seem odd that he’s on the 40 man? Sounds like not much of a prospect
  6. Sorry for diversion but didn’t want to start a new thread— was curious what you guys know about Gavin Hollowell? He’s at Iowa and on the 40 man, I didn’t even realize he’d pitched for the big league club last year, or was even in the Cubs org My daughter went to High School with him, hence my interest. I remember when he was drafted by the Rockies.
  7. I was frantically googling thinking Cubs had acquired Jordan Hicks
  8. I appreciate this viewpoint and a couple others you expressed around the way this Detroit series unfolded.. This was a great experience for PCA, Shaw, Brown, and Horton. I also appreciated seeing PCA batting forth against Gore, one of the toughest lefties around — throw the kid up there. He’s only gonna get better.
  9. thanks -- I've actually been around since '03 but somehow upscrewed my account (was Stu) with the changover. Dont post much,
  10. me too re Barnhart, and for me it comes from hearing that hick Marty Brennaman gargling out his name like Marty was deep into the bourbon, when Tucker was on the Reds
  11. that Cassie at-bat — 2-0, fouls a pitch, just off, then laced the next one HRs in his next at bat and threw out a runner at 3B yesterday. Making some noise. Granted that it’s some of the worst pitching in the tournament,, but his ABs certainly are intriguing. Is his upside anything more than fourth outfielder with some nice power off the bench?
  12. that Cassie at-bat — 2-0, fouls a pitch, just off, then laced the next one
  13. Would this make Brett Baty available and worth looking into? Is he any good?
  14. I was watching the same feed on SNY, did you notice that Keith Hernandez kept gushing over Assad’s stuff?
  15. Came across this woman the other day, a Covid researcher named Elizabeth Wrigley-Field, pretty cool back story: https://deadspin.com/elizabeth-wrigley-field-has-never-been-to-wrigley-field-1848823818
  16. was gonna say i'd be hoping for better than that, but then i looked him up and see that he had nearly 50 WAR in his career, so yeah i'd take that no problem. My thought was Curtis Granderson. I'd settle for peak Bernie Williams :)
  17. The Mets have lost 12 1/2 games in the standings to the Braves since August began.
  18. Cubs.com reads like it's written by Baghdad Bob these days.
  19. Anyone old enough (like me) to remember when Santo was traded to the Sox? I was a young kid but still remember feeling like a franchise icon was traded away— this feels similar. Also remember being really pissed when Madlock and Sutter were was traded away
  20. I think he looks just like his dad
  21. Well played sir. I spit my coffee onto my laptop from laughing when I read this!
  22. He seems rather captain obvious in his comments
  23. Why is Mark Grace part of the announcing on the Cubs games? Have they said?
  24. so Robert Duvall paid a visit to Beltran?
  25. That's amazing... LOVE Peaky Blinders btw....
