Will today's crowd be more relaxed or are we going to have to win the DS first?

The problem with the crowd is how many 65 year olds who just want to see it happen once before they die buy up the tickets. They aren't noise makers or the least bit enthusiastic. The Cubs will have to win a world series once before you can clear out all the nostalgic boomers with money who can't be bothered to get loud. After that, the sky high prices will subside a little and louder 40 year old will be able to afford to go.

That's mostly spot on. The guy who told me to sit down (2 strike count, 2 outs) was a gramp but chilled after I bought him a beer and told him to drink a little bit. However, I was surrounded by plenty of 30-40 year olds who had their hands in their laps the entire game. No chanting, no clapping, no yelling... I shouldn't be able to hear the catcher's mitt pop in the upper deck in the playoffs.

I hate that this game is at 3:30pm. Whether they know it or not, I'm leaving work at 3pm today.

That's 10:30 pm for me. I'll be watching a feed of the game on TV having a beer. :D

A win today means Lester-Arrieta can go in game 1-2, whereas a loss probably means Hendricks game 1. Either way, dongers gonna dong.

No.

Last night was Monday. Today is Tuesday. The first game of the NLCS is Saturday. That means Arrieta would be going on full rest for Saturday's game.

Exactly...Arrieta will almost certainly go Game 1 regardless of whether we in today or in Game 5.

Heck we could even pitch Jake out of the pen for a couple of innings in Game 5 and he'd still be good to go for game 1.

I'll say it again....Dong these drunken cheating dirty birds in to submission. Let's get the win and begin the ascension to the top of the NL Central for the next 5 years. Cardinals will fail to resign Hayward and Lackey and spiral to the bottom where they belong.

So how do they get Coghlan in this lineup today? I mean, nobody wants to take Schwarbs or Soler out, right?

If Russell can't play, run the risk with Coghlan at 2b and Castro at SS?

That's a tough proposition for me. I don't weaken 4 positions (2B, SS, LF, RF) for the sake of offense, in what should be a low scoring game.

I'm listening to highlights from the Cardinals side and Mike Shannon keeps calling him "Gor-ge Solar"

Homie, he's gonna keep hitting home runs so you better learn his name

start coghlan at 2b, castro at ss. bat coghlan 2nd. let him bat once in the bottom of the 1st, then take him out, put baez in at ss, slide castro to 2nd.

that gets coghlan the one ab he would probably get if he doesn't start, but ensures that it comes against a guy he hits well vs. the plethora of guys out of the cardinals' pen that he doesn't match up well against.

He's such a giant turd. He ALWAYS called Maddux Maddox and I still want to punch him in the face for it.

and while we're at it, start Grimm for an inning or two and THEN put in Hammel so he can avoid his usual 1st inning woes

you could do that and bat grimm in the 2nd spot and use coghlan to ph for him in the bottom of the first.

LOT OF GOOD IDEAS HERE

After the Cubs win this series the Cardinals should have to give their Central Champions shirts and hats to the Cubs.

If Russell can't go today, I'd guess Coghlan and La Stella at the start over Schwarber and Baez.

Fowler

Coghlan

Bryant

Rizzo

Soler

Montero

Castro

Hammel

La Stella

They'll have the pitching advantage if you don't outdong them.

It's impossible for Hammel to not have a first inning. His first inning woes to this point have been because his first inning by default falls in the actual first inning, but is it because it's THE first inning or HIS first inning?

Leaving Soler in because he's red hot even though his bat is like Pedro Serrano's and is afraid of the curveball?

I would prefer not having La Stella and Coghlan in the lineup

Both have looked pretty bad recently, I don't really care about handedness that much

I'm sorry, but I can't find a single reasonable reason to bench Schwarber. Let's bench Rizzo while we're at it.
