I seriously doubt it. Maybe he could throw 40. MAYBE. They took the dude out after less than 100 pitches up 1-0. Clearly they aren't trying to overexert him.

I think so, with Scherzer to either start Game 5 and go as long as he can or come out of the bullpen. Sent from my Pixel using Tapatalk There's no freaking way Max pitches Game 5. Game 5 will be Thursday no matter what. That's 2 days rest with a guy who's hurt already.

Maddon basically said before the game yesterday that Russell gets the day off today, and for some reason I could see Dex and Contreras get the day off too. My lineup prediction. LF- Coghlan 3B- Bryant 1B- Rizzo 2B- Zobrist RF- Heyward SS- Baez C- Montero CF- Sczcur Crazy how this is a lineup without 3 of our regulars and still better than basically everyone else in the NL.

I love how Stone says stuff and is so sure of himself and he's way wrong. I tend to think pretty highly of Stone. I mean, how good is our team defense? We have some studs for sure, but we're also pretty mediocre in some ways. Fowler is average at best in center, Bryant and Zobrist are pretty "meh", and let's not even talk about left field. Is this serious? First off, Baez, Heyward, Rizzo, and Russell are all studs. So half our lineup is studs. I mean what more you want?

I'm sorry, but I can't find a single reasonable reason to bench Schwarber. Let's bench Rizzo while we're at it. The other 2 corner outfielder options are the guy who hasn't made an out yet this postseason, and the guy who is probably least susceptible of the 3 to Lackey's repertoire(who is also 8 for 19 against him). There are no 'bad' choices. I hear ya, but this is the same manager who started Schwarber in RF and Bryant in LF of an elimination game. Don't be crazy surprised if Coghs is at 2B and Castro at short. I think/hope La Stella is the last guy we think about starting.

Cogs had a pretty hard hit ball in his first AB last night for a single. Looked terrible striking out in his second, but I'm not sure you'll get much better from Soler, who certainly won't see any hittable FBs from a guy as smart about pitching as Lackey is. Yeah but the guy is seeing the ball great, and is taking his walks. If they don't want to throw him hitable pitches then he'll be standing on first.

not should. you're arguing that he could. if he's healthy, there is zero chance he'll be left off. Exactly. Same with Castro IMO. I know many love Baez and do not love Castro, but the guy has gotten us multiple big hits thoughout the season, and right now is a better hitter than Baez. There's no way Joe doesn't include Starlin. No way.

How is Schwarber not a lock? Hell, Castro and LaStella are probably pretty close to locks too. Jackson, Wood and Cahill are probably next Castro and Schwarber are locks.

Coghlan hit .321 in 128 games as a rookie and won RoY. I really think that helps with some of these young guys. Starlin was an instant star as a 20 year old. Rizzo was a huge prospect who kind of failed initially, but worked through it. We have some pretty great players for the rookies to look to and ask questions about the way to handle things.

Probably, but I could see David Ross catching Saturday and Sunday against left handed pitchers I could see Herrera in lineup today since Starlin is most likely starting next two games.

Eh. I think I wanted them to win? We're so far ahead in the second WC now that I'd rather see the Pirates make the division close and have to fight to the last day than see the home field or second spot come into play for us. I guess I don't care because we're talking about playoff scenarios and the Cubs have entered Magical Christmas Land and everything is beautiful. i said earlier that i should be rooting for the pirates to win those games but idc because i irrationally want the improved aesthetic of being in 2nd it's annoying being awesome and being in 3rd place also while a home game isn't that helpful, it's much cooler if you can go to it Rooting for the Pirates tomorrow just so they get one game. Would be nice to get the Cards one loss. I'm still holding out the slim hope of winning the division. My thoughts exactly. Coming into this series I wanted to sweep Milwaukee, and have STL or Pitt take 2 of 3. Didn't really care who. That way we were guaranteed to gain one game on one and two games on the other. We have 7 left vs Pitt and 6 left vs STL. The only thing we can do is win a ton of games, and the rest will take care of itself.

I was stuck all night with TWC having to listen to those jacks. They are HORRIBLE. Their play by play game especially. Brian Anderson? Just horrible in every regard. He knew nothing about the Cubs. I know it isn't his job to know a lot about the Cubs, but he should have and could have been a million times better. Will have to watch from my phone tomorrow so at least I'll get the option and for sure will get Len and JD, but those guys are really bad for Milwaukee. What a game!!!

No, and that won't change anytime going forward I wouldn't think. Can't imagine Montero plays tomorrow.
