I get he says that now, but had they gone 3rd to 2nd the Reds would have won the protest IMO. It's just so unusual. Another thing that makes baseball great.

This. I think the above rules doesn't take into account the bases being loaded bc it is such a strange play. Force outs will always be force outs no matter what.

So if they had just touched 3rd first and then thrown to 2nd the DP would have still counted and the game would have gone to the 11th, correct? But since they touched 2nd first then that made the play at 3rd a tag play so the run counted. Crazy crazy crazy.
