  1. that might be because you got used to len sounding like kermit the frog for 16 years. i'm pretty sure we almost unanimously HATED that at first. Some of us still do haha
  2. I’m the same way, but projection models are rightly based on norms, none of which apply this season. How are they accounting for the 60 game season? It’s very difficult to build that in. Several of us have talked about how challenging it’s going to be for guys to be really stretched out and injury free — it seems like the Cubs are making a similar bet.
  3. You said 5-6 more years. Nobody counts on a RB beyond the season they're about to play, at the most. 5-6 years total would be a successful career, and he's already finished 2. And that is after a three year college career with with 700 touches. I'm not arguing he is set for 5-6 years, I'm saying he should be able to keep up the production barring injury. Obviously, there is no guarantee. eta: maybe not "likley" as I did say Bro, it’s the NFL. You can’t say “barring injury”. Everyone gets injured whether they miss games or just lose production because of it. Injuries (and occasionally suspensions for being a pos) often dictate seasons in this sport.
  4. I had to google who this guy was. Not my jam. That Blinding Lights song sounds like an 80's aerobics competition or the fight scene in Flash Gordon. Have you been living under a rock for the past 8 years?
  5. This turned into a forbidden love story so slowly I barely noticed it.
  6. Yup. That 5 years was just a huge chunk of history when you think about it. Huge. I’m not sure how old you are, but based on the demographics of this board, there’s a decent chance that you remember a grand total of one more WS title for your team than I do for mine.
  7. But can he take strike three looking on a borderline pitch outside?
  8. I mean good for them, they see a time when they actually have a chance to be better than the Cubs on paper for the first time in like 5 years. But if you come at the king you best not miss. Especially with how that contract will look if he doesn’t make the post Coors adjustment.
  9. Down with this plan but isn’t Folty addicted to meth?
  10. You need to start with owners that actually like baseball though And fans who actually like baseball.
  11. He's probably slightly better than Schwarber and he's getting significantly less money. It's a perfectly cromulent move all on its own. Yeah this was my point. Sure he's getting significantly less than Schwarbers Nats contract but the arbitration estimates for Kyle were right around this amount. And he might also suck in LF. His foot speed is dropping every year, he's always had bad grades on his reads and jumps. He should also be entirely unplayable vs LHP. If the Cubs knew they could have gotten Schwarber for $8m, and instead replaced him with Joc for close to the same money, don’t you think that says something about the FO’s assessment of Schwarber moving forward? Hate ownership, fine; but this FO is still very good and knows a guy like Schwarber as well as anyone. My take is that they just didn’t have a lot of faith that he’d be good in 2021.
  12. He's probably slightly better than Schwarber and he's getting significantly less money. It's a perfectly cromulent move all on its own. God, I want to call out the word 'significantly' there, but....you're probably right. This all sucks. Hey I loved Schwarbs too but having to spend 40%+ more for a guy who will likely add less value to the team is just dumb.
  13. I like this move. In LF he’s going to grade out well (speed, arm) and this gives us one of the best defense OFs in MLB imo. The bat is basically Schwarber, but he will provide more value overall at a lower cost.
  14. Lester was incredible in Game 7
  15. Prove what? That a Cuban American can make it in America on minimum wage? #FightForFortyTwoMillion
