  1. Not what you guys wanted in the buildup to the WC. I’m pleased with the new youngsters in the Belgian side, De Cat playing alongside Witsel was a bit strange though ( Witsel scored his first for Belgium before De Cat was even born).
  2. Naples went nuts after winning the Seria A yesterday evening.
  3. Love the runic-style numbers on Norway’s shirts for the away game in Moldova
  4. Italy must really hate the Low Countries after this week in the CL 😎
  5. I came here half expecting a post about PSV's epic late comeback against Shaktar featuring three goals by their US players prompting AS to use the word "Americanada" 😎
  6. News that made me smile: after a long winless streak San Marino (FIFA rank #210) have finally won a game again (1-0 home win against Liechtenstein). Their goalscorer yesterday wasn't even born when they last won a game.
  7. Anything interesting to know about Kayden Pierre? He just signed for Genk, which I think is a good place for youngsters to develop.
  8. In 1989 Greg Lemond beat Laurent Fignon by 8 seconds in the time trial on the final day to win the Tour de France. Today, the women of the Tour de France Femmes went one better: Kasia Niewiadoma did just enough to hang on to her lead over Demi Vollering by 4 seconds on the mythical climb to Alpe d’Huez. Sport doesn’t get better than this.
  9. Sounds like you too suffer from confirmation bias (your bias being you don't like the Olympics). As far as I can tell, Paris did a reasonable job with these Olympics. The road events (cycling and marathon) were great, as were the equestrian events - both enhanced by a fantastic backdrop of historic buildings. They did mess up the "swimming in the Seine" bit - that was a very bad idea from the beginning. Net results of the controversies will probably be no boxing in LA 2028, which I think would be a pity.
  10. Pochettino is smart enough to know managing a national team is completely different from managing a club side - if indeed he makes the jump it will be interesting to see how that plays out.
  11. That's not how cycling works - they chose to play a game of chicken hoping the other would make the effort to close the final gap knowing that the energy that would take could be costly in the subsequent sprint. Faulkner was smart enough to know those two playing that game was a distinct possibility, attacked at the right moment and was justly rewarded.
  12. Blanka Vas was the one that countered and brought them to within a couple of bike lenghts - when she signalled for one of the others to take over to close the remaining gap, Vos and Kopecky just looked at eachother, and Faulkner was away. Again, smart racing from her and a well deserved gold.
  13. That was a very smart move - she knew Vos and Kopecky would inevitably look at eachother before countering.
  14. Hey, for 50k Amine Khelif can beat me up for 46 seconds too.
  15. Agreed - that MB coverage was excellent, both the women and the men.
