What kind of stuff does Wood have?

He makes near league minumum, but that's still a lot of money so I'm assuming that a lot of it's pretty cool.

Man I hate to give up Marshall, he's been one of my favorite Cubs the past few years. Getting Hamilton as one of the prospects would be sweet, but how is Travis Wood any different than Randy Wells, aside from age?

He has an adequate ability to miss bats.

He's a middle infielder. It's way different.

Plus he's 21. Quite possible he develops more power. Also his walk rate is already pretty good, and should improve with time.

I am all about getting Hamilton, I believe he may have more value to flip in another trade than keep.

Seems like a lot of this trade has been leaked anyone think this is on purpose so theo can get another team to step up their offer? (Yankees, Padres?)

Stole over 100 bases; struck out over 100 times; walked over 50. .278/.340/.360 at A-ball; will be 21 years old this coming year.

He stole a base almost 50% of the time he reached based.

He also scored approximately half of the time that he reached base.

Pretty amazing numbers.

You do realize that him scoring that often only has a small amount to do with his ability right? The SB numbers are impressive though.

That's pretty crazy...an 84% success rate at an incredibly high volume. Very impressive.

Phil Rogers mentioned in his column today this move could lead to a flurry of deals for Theo. I know it's Rogers, but I'd really like to see some things start happening. He even mentioned Matt Harrison for Byrd and other stuff, maybe Wells. I wish he was right for once.

John Fay of the Cincinnati Enquirer hears from a source that no trade is imminent yet.

Man, and I was just starting to get pumped about this trade. Wood is OK, but the prospects probably were going to be pretty intriguing.

Did the Cubs/Rockies trade not get recognized for a few days until everyone passed physicals? I think I remember them saying the deal was agreed to on Tuesday night, but wasn't announced until Friday morning, when everything was done. Maybe this is how we're doing things? Waiting on announcements until all is completely done?

i know it might make me lose sabr-cred, but billy hamilton on the cubs stealing 100 bases would be fun as hell to watch.

he takes quite a few walks, and i think with the new "cubs way" he could be an on base machine. defensively, he's not great, but he's also very young and athletic.

i'm all excited over this possibility now.

Okay, rephrased.

He strikes people out.

Bowden tweeted that the quality of the prospects involved is the key as to whether it gets done. Lending me to believe Cubs probably ARE asking for Hamilton. Divisional rival, make them pay up, Theo.

lol, if you do that thing where you add his steals to his TB, his slugging last year jumps from .360 way the hell up to .548

and yes, in counting his CS his OBP drops from .340 to .307 in this admittedly useless exercise

im not into billy hamilton at all

you should; with all these groan-worthy dumb ass comparisons being lazily thrown around, he actually profiles really well to be another Dee Gordon (if you like that kind of thing [i do])
