  1. I don't see how a double OT loss to Oklahoma where we were up 17-0 at one point is failing to live up to expectations, especially considering most expectations around here were 8-9 wins and few of those included a win over OU. We're still on track to have the type of season we expected and need to have, even though dropping this one after the big lead is extremely disappointing/frustrating.
  2. That game was a tale of two halves. Tennessee looked like one of the better teams in the nation in the first half and Hurd looked like a budding star. The defense played great and OU had no answer at all for the Maggitt/Barnett combo on the outside. Then the second half happened, Maggitt went down and the offense remembered that Mike Debord is our OC. Defense stayed good, but the offense just fell apart and looked completely out of sync. I'd be interested to see what the game looks like if Butch goes for the touchdown early when we had fourth and goal from the 2 or 3 and he settled for a field goal. He's frustratingly conservative on stuff like that and it may have helped cost us the game.
  3. Decent player, always seemed to make the most out of limited reps. Good reserve 4-3 DE. Thanks. He'll apparently be playing 3-4 OLB for the Titans so hopefully he'll be an upgrade over Jonathan Massoquai.
  4. Any Bears fans know anything about David Baas? Titans claimed him off waivers today from Chicago.
  5. To be fair, they are only ranked 25th. The Vols have the skill position guys and are in the much weaker East. I could see 8-4 or so. vs. Bowling Green - Win vs. Oklahoma - Loss vs. Western Carolina - Win at Florida - Win vs. Arkansas - Loss vs. Georgia - Loss at Alabama - Loss at Kentucky - Win vs. South Carolina - Win vs. North Texas - Win at Missouri - Loss vs. Vanderbilt - WIn I got 7-5 I think you're pretty spot on there, though I expect one win among the OU/Ark/UGA/Mizz group.
  6. It has a lot to do with us bringing back, I believe, 23 players which is either the most in the SEC or in the nation. We've also had a pair of great recruiting classes and finally showed improvement for the first time since Fulmer was at the helm. There's a bunch of really exciting, young talent on this team and a coach considered an up and comer (I'm not as high on his coaching ability, but the man can recruit). That said, it is still a young team that has a few holes left and a few more questions, so you don't want to get too excited. That being said, I put the baseline expectation at 8-4 and think that's completely realistic with the potential for a major breakout next year. Barely in the top 25 or barely out is perfectly reasonable to me.
  7. Depending on what he's asking for, I'd consider that pitcher to be Cueto. I'd love to get him and then give him an extension.
  8. I don't believe he has the yips, but it's not unheard of that a baseball player gets some weird mental block that he can't overcome for a period of time - Steve Sax and Chuck Knoblauch at second and Salty at catcher throwing to first, for instance.
  9. Those are my feelings as well. So what? Seems like there's a pretty good chance this team will be in a position to give a future hitting god a chance to adjust to the MLB sooner rather than later as opposed to having to make time for Chris Coghlan. If Coghlan's luck changes (currently .90 points below career average BABIP and only .10 points behind career average LD%), it's unlikely Schwarber outhits him. If Schwarber isn't going to outhit him and will probably be similar to slightly better in the field, there's no reason to force him into the ML OF - especially since he's far more valuable to the team being awesome with the bat as a catcher. If there's enough reason to believe he can outhit Coghlan or a potential trade candidate, though, I wouldn't have a problem playing him in LF this season. I'm just pretty skeptical of that.
  10. Those are my feelings as well.
  11. Yeah, I agree with that. But if there's a chance he can help this year, you let him try. And you can always move him back to C. Basically, he's catching from April to July, called up in July to play OF. Then catches October to December and again in April. I'm fine with that, if he actually is an upgrade over what we have/can have out there. I wouldn't want to hurt his development as a long-term catcher, though.
  12. Too easy to find good bats for LF and too hard to find bats behind the plate. if there's a chance he can catch, let him try.
  13. Cubs.com for me. I used to lurk there a lot, but never posted. I remember the fake death, hogcard's (or whatever his name was) "if zambrano starts your in trouble," and some guy who seemed to have everybody believing (or maybe just me) that he was getting inside info from Hendry or something during the winter meetings one year. He kept teasing that he'd be giving us some major news and then finally admitted he was making it all up. Only vague recollection of that last one.
  14. The good news is that rockettheme is now building 3.1.x phpbb styles, too. They should also be responsive and look good on mobile. Hm, I like the sound of that.
