BTW, even if this catcher turns out only to be a servicable back up with an avg. bat, that ain't bad, considering who we gave up.

 

He's already freed up nearly 3 million dollars and spots on the 40 and 25 man rosters... not to mention his offense isn't hurting us nearly as much as Neifi's did.

 

What more do you want from the guy?

Also, threads can explode when there is disagreement-there has been very little disagreement in this thread, so people have trouble finding multiple ways to express their joy :D

They are expected to call up Bynum. We all know he was going to come up at some point, and Theriot would have probably been sent down-and now Theriot gets to stay with the team.

What's even better...in Hendry world math...if you subtract the 2.5 million we don't have to pay for Neifi next year from Isturis' contract we're getting him for like 1.5 mill next year...which is completely reasonable.

I've been "roughing it" at my friend's lakehouse this weekend, and we never turned on a tv or computer. This is great news.

 

BTW, has anyone mentioned that this could possibly make the Izturis trade a bit more palatable? I still don't want Izzy and Cedeno playing together in the MI, but Izturis would be an acceptable option at SS if we were to upgrade offensively at 2B. I don't feel quite as bad about paying Izturins 4 million next season since Neifi's 2.5 milliion is off the books.

It does help until I see Izturis hitting 2nd in the lineup and then I just think here we go again.

I work with a guy who is a lifelong Tigers fan. He insists that Neifi is only a back up and won't sniff any important ABs.
