  1. It was hard to tell from the video on cubs.com, but did Bradley point to his ear after his mammoth home run? It almost looked like a taunt to the fans, like 'I can't hear you booing now, M#$@@ F#$@$!' Am I imagining things?
  2. Best of luck, Hank...great backup catcher and good person. I hope everything works out for him and that he can recover from what befell him.
  3. Edmonds baaaaaack....LEAPS...LANDS....catches the ball...baaaaaaack.....back some more....skips...and CRASHES INTO THE WALL!
  4. I go to games there every year and sit in the bleachers drapped in cubbie blue and the logo. I also get nasty things said to me quite a bit and tormented relentlessly, and I'm not a loud obnoxious guy. The bleacher seats are super cheap, but full of agro mexican dudes with shaved heads who like to get roudy. It borders on being beyond friendly taunting. But hey, screw that! Go cubs! Also, of note is that they don't serve alcohol in the bleacher sections. I guess some child died a few years back and it was somehow alcohol related (no, I'm not joking). So in answer to your question...yes, and it's great!
  5. Oh no, Scott's back!
  6. That sucks! Get well soon Ronnie! The Cubs play is hurting his heart! C'mon guys! Pull it together!
  7. Our perhaps it was the Freakin' PLAYERS! OK, I don't like Dusty, but lets not over or under estimate him.
  8. Gosh...that is difficult to watch. The end of that season was a blur, but I do remember we were close and managed to blow it. How did we loose with all those guys?
  9. Is there any way we can get Barret to go over and puch each Detroit player in the face??? If history serves, that will get them fired up and they will beat those nasty Cards!
  10. I'd like to take this moment to annouce that I, too am withdrawing my name from consideration for the open managerial postings. The next year I plan on returning to my boring IT job.
  11. Really!?!? Stats anyone? If so, then I say lets definitely forget about Lee and grab ourselves a heaping hot plate of pitching...
  12. Rich Hill had babies with his sister?
  13. Oh man. This thread made my stomach feel uneasy and puts me in a right bad mood. As others have said, I don't think this is out of the realm of possibility, or even probability that we will proceed with a similar plan. Jim has had a super hard-on for Floyd (remember the trade rumors), and desires to put the Jones clone in the other corner spot. Resigning Pierre seems very likely. I am by no means going to hold out much hope for Lee, Zito, or Schmidt. There are AT LEAST 5 other teams that will be interested that have more money and more willingness to spend it. Yipes. We have some grim scenarios if Ramirez opts out.
  14. :D  :D  :D :D :D :D CELEBRATION! Bust out the champaign! I haven't been this happy since my wedding day!
  15. Ha! I could see that. Number 4: Make me some toast and eggs, beyotch. Number 5: Never make eye contact with me. When I am speaking, you look at the floor, got it?
  16. I've had enough of "lets hope that he returns to form" type players!
  17. Holy freakin' S@#*!!!! Izturus? This is getting ridiculous! A non-move would have been better!
  18. What did you say?! Are they going to replace his hand with a claw?
  19. Scott, again, are you trying to make my wife a widow? Do you want my head to explode? There is ADDED MOTIVATION right now for other teams to make a run at it, and thus, they are more willing to give up a little more in terms of prospects in exchange for help NOW. The Cubs NEED to take advantage of this and use the opportunity to leverage the trades. Scott, it honestly just seems like you are defending whatever Cubs organization does regardless of logic. Then you top that off with steaming promises of .500-style turnarounds one after the other. The scary part for me is, I think you are not trolling, you are being genuine. Somebody call the looney-bin!
  20. Amen. My head has officially blown up.
  21. I too, think that the Cubs will do better in the second half...perhaps play just below 500 ball from now on if they are lucky. More likely they will play themselves another 10 games or so under 500. I honestly can't see how we are loosing outside of our boneheadedness and lack of picthing. We SHOULD be better on paper. If our rookies can develop a little more in the pitching department things will hopefully stabalize. I hope that better ball doesn't mean a patched up team next year. We've got to get cheaper and get rid of vets so we can change the makeup next year.
  22. Scott, Your posts fill me with more internet-rage than I have felt in many moons. It started off with the brash preditions of a turn-around earlier in this year (which never came true) and putting up false crazy-sauce hope after false wacky-juice hope. Now, you are again throwing out tired optimism and dismissal of the obvious. Please stop before my head explodes! I beg of you! My insurance isn't that great and I don't want my wife to have to bear the financial burden that a new head would cost. She can't handle the hospital bills. She has a cat to take care of! It isn't WRONG for people to disagree with your looney-tunes assesment of this team. Plus, I will even say that it isn't WRONG for people to even want the Cubs to loose 100 games! I am a true Cubs fan, and I can see what they are getting at. Only when we hit the rock bottom can we come up again. Water treading will only continue to produce more medeocrity that we have become all-too-accustomed too. Please Scott, I love you with the burning passion of a thousand suns, and I want to see you happy and old in a retirement home in FL, surrounded by your many wives and grandchildren, sipping on a tall Pina Collada. But for my sakes, PLEASE stop with the blind optimism!
  23. How about we pair Dusty up with Brently. Dusty can fill out the lineup card and go through the order once or twice, then Bob can take over and deal with the more advanced topics like "Double-Switches" and "Walks AKA Clogging Up Bases". Dusty can give Bob back massages for the second half of the game. For Wood, the only person I would pair him up with is Doc from Back to the Future. I'd have him build Wood a custom robot arm. Saw off Wood's sholder and attach the new bionic arm.
  24. Would this be an opportune time to mention Scott's predicted sweep of the Marlins, saying that this would show the world that the Cubs aren't done yet? If anything, it showed that Girardi has a sharp haircut and Marshall is tall.
  25. Check. Yes. Applause!
