  1. I think our problem is that we live in the freakin' future, not the freaking past. We assume that we are going to be a better team once this or that happens, and we are dismissive of current failures.
  2. I totally agree with the OP. I hate this split, win 1, loose 3, win 2, loose 1, loose 2, etc etc thing we have going. I want a crashing dive into the gutter or a blast to the top rather than the gentle glide into crappyness that we are getting currently. I think our medeocrity with over the past few years has lulled us to sleep, thinking that we are 'on the verge' rather than realizing that we are indeed truely and woefully just on the south side of average.
  3. Scott. You are [expletive] crazy. This isn't some gentelmenly supper, where we wear white gloves and tophats. This is a public arena sports game. It is meant for entertainment. You think a ballplayer sucks? Let him have it! No skin off of his nose. He is there for our entertainment (as bad as that sounds it is true). Can I give a record a negative review in a music publication? Sure! It's socially acceptable! At a ballgame can I boo? Sure! It's socially acceptable. (Perhaps it's not to you, but then again you probably get your underwear dry cleaned eat caviar for brunch). But all that being said, Scott, I still love you deeply with the passion of a thousand suns and wish blessing upon you and the fruit of your loins.
  4. Gotta stay loose, dude. Keep stayin' positive (and dancin'). Want a toothpick?
  5. It may have been a bad simulated start, but the sim-umpires were totally squeezing him. The sim-batters were just hitting simulated flairs that our simulated second basement just couldn't get to. Our luck will turn around soon and we will start getting the sim-breaks.
  6. I think those stats might be directly correlated, thus invalidating your argument. If we have pitchers throwing crap off the plate and walking people, you aren't going to have a whole lot of hits. There will be lots of walks (check) and a low opposing player BA (check). If they start putting stuff right down the pipe, I would guess that the BA will go up and the walks will go down. Hopefully you can find a ballance in-between.
  7. Shoot. I'm stupid. Oh well. They will still loose morally tommorrow...
  8. They've got to make a mistake and accidentally not loose at some point. I think it is perfectly plausable. Soon, I really think they will pull out of this dismal spiral towards hades and start to win a few. This, however, does not take away the fact that they are a sucky teem and will likely play 500 ball at best, at worst keep loosing 2 out of 3. So, here is a question: Lets say that the Cubs on average win 2 out of every 5 until they get Wood, Prior, and Lee back. Once they have these players back, where in the standings will they be? Will they already be out of it? Will those player's returns make a difference where they will win 2 out of every 3? Or just play .500 ball? I'm guessing that once we get those guys back, we will be a .500 team (or perhaps a little bit better) but will have dug ourselves enough of a hole that we can't make it out.
  9. I wouldn't say that. At least your sister has turned out to be a hottie.
  10. Don't you have any comfort that your wild tennis serve will someday be harnesed wawy from it's ball-busting state and into a nice consistant threat?
  11. Ha! Everybody look at the cubs.com headline for the game: Guzman helps his cause, exits after three I'd say that is incredibly accurate. I dont' think they mean it in the way that it comes across, but that is too funny.
