  1. I love LoMo. Though on the inside I bet he's feeling a lot more like Scarface quitting the burger job. That's video is NSFW due to some potty-mouthed potheads, just a heads up.
  2. That was awesome, thanks Tree
  3. That's actually one of the Wachowski Brothers of Matrix fame that you're referencing as transgendered and not the Coens, but I don't see why one of the Maddux bros shouldn't also venture down that road. Chicago's a progressive, tolerant place right? And if it meant a WS victory, the entire coaching staff could come to work in full Victorian ball gowns if it so tickled their fancy.
  4. I was thinking I'd like to see the Maddux brothers as manager/pitching coach in kind of the same way the Coen brother work as a director/writer team. Though traditionally their titles are different, but there is obviously a huge overlap in knowledge, experience, and abilities because they've got incredible intelligence and understanding of their craft.
  5. My little piece of obscure Cub memorabilia- I have one of those hideous neon pink hats that were a giveaway from a game in the early 90's. On it are the signatures of Chuck Crim, Heathcliff Slocumb, Shawn Boskie, Dave Otto, and BILLY FREAKIN WILLIAMS. I wish I'd gotten the HOFer to sign something else, or at least in something other than ballpoint. It's faded so bad you can hardly tell it's his.
  6. Steve Buechele and the curly golden mullet
  7. I said to a friend at the beginning of the year when he was still a Brave, "Jordan Schafer just has the look of some guy you'd buy pot from in high school". Apparently my analysis was spot on. And yeah, marijuana prohibition is a ridiculous farce and an egregious waste of funds in its policing. I think the main reason its still in place is the lobbying clout of alcohol and big pharma.

  9. Pomeranz had a perfect game going into the 7th in his debut at Rockies AA Tulsa, with only 52 pitches through 6  . Guess the time off wasn't a problem for him.
  10. I'm sure Quade would be fine, being completely hairless has got to keep you a few degrees cooler. But yeah, I've always thought the whole baseball managers wearing the unis is a bit archaic and silly- looking. Unless teams want to start bringing back player/managers, which would be awesome.
  11. After reading that piece, it made me seriously resent King. Here's somebody blessed with the talent to be a #1 overall pick and perform at a very high level in a job that 99% of American males would trade places for in a second. Maybe he should have spent a year working in a restaurant kitchen or a dimly lit cubicle or waking up a 5am to pick up garbage on a subzero morning, in order to realize that his lot in life wasn't so bad after all. Why then did he invest so much of his life putting in the time and effort it takes to make it as far as he did? Was his hatred building up gradually? If it was true that every time he heard the national anthem he had a bad day, it seems like maybe he's just wired to be miserable as some people are. If that's the case then it's good that he's sequestered off on a ranch in Wyoming and can't be a downer to all around him. Funny that he was replaced by Mike Sweeney, known as one of the most upbeat and likable guys to play in the last few decades. However, if the truth is King had some nagging, chronic injury that wasn't being disclosed, then it's a little more understandable. As for Jeff Kent, I've always though he was a jerk and not just because he took Ryno's career HR record for a 2B.
  12. Due to being incredibly busy and just letting it slip my mind, I did not get a fantasy team registered in time for opening day. I figured there have to be more folks out there in the same situation, so I've started a yahoo league that commences the 2nd week, with scoring counting from 4/11 onward. Several more slots are open, so hopefully I can get some more latecomers to join up. It's going to be an autodraft on Saturday 4/9 or Sunday 4/10. League Name: Johnny Come Latelys Password: week2herewego Please don't hesitate to jump in!

  14. Figgins played 2B last year, but this year he's back at 3B where he's most comfortable and played the bulk of his career. I think depending on where the D'backs are in the standings Kelly Johnson could be a nice trade target. Also, the Rockies have several options at 2B in Jose Lopez, Ty Wigginton, Eric Young Jr. Those three also can play other positions, and maybe one could be an upgrade for us if the conditions were right. Ideally though one of our guys will have a breakout year and eliminate the need to look elsewhere.
  15. So he got on base one and a half times?
