Our only hope is that Miller, Cabrera, or Steele can give us at least one reliable guy between the 3 of them.

We have Assad, although he might be a SP.

As good as this team has been throughout the year, especially from their hitting and defensive aspects of the game, it is just so defeating to know that you just don’t have the pitching to get you over that hump. Personally, I do not think we will fare better than last year. They should make the playoffs, but I do not think they’ll secure home field first round. I don’t think the pitching can go toe to toe with either the Phillies, Braves, or the Dodgers. Anything can happen, but I just don’t see the woes going away in that department.

Remember when I said no matter how ****** the pitchers were that they can't possibly keep giving up homers at this rate? I take it back. They clearly can.

Lovely, now they can rest their top bullpen guys

Maybe if we fall behind by enough they'll use position players again

two weeks ago the @ philly scenario seemed like a long shot worst case postseason scenario. at this point you’d have to begrudgingly sign on for that.

Carson Kelly is like the 3rd best reliever.

Only half-joking.

I always had the idea that Ashby is a starter who the Brewers somehow convinced he’s just a BP arm.

Hell yeah, going off script.

I don't think I realized he was Bahamian.  I lived there until I was 16.  I know Jazz Chisolm is as well. Don't know if there have been any others.

So basically, the hope is that Steele,  Miller, Cabrera,  Hollowell, and maybe Assad can return and become the main bullpen guys the last couple weeks of season and into the playoffs.

Oh, I forgot about Hollowell.

So besides Assad, two guys coming off TJ, a guy who has been consistently awful, and a middling journeyman. Right on.

I will not root for the Cubs to miss the playoffs (which will probably cost PCA the MVP) but I won't be surprise or angry if it happens. I am starting to prepare myself for football season.

Man, we gotta stop with the “Cabrera could be the relief ace we’ve been missing” thing. I know it’s September and the trade deadline has come and gone and every single reliever on the active roster stinks so we can only pin hopes on guys coming back from injury but based on everything we’ve seen from Cabrera this year, he won’t be the answer either. He’ll just be more cannon fodder.

At this point, all I care about is PCA getting the MVP.  The Cubs don't have the pitching to be a serious contender.
