Speaking of Wood, he just went on the IL, which is a pretty big stroke of luck for the Cubs going into Washington next week.

I genuinely feel bad for Toronto. They were a literal inch from winning the WS last year and now they’re in last place and losing g games like this.

at least they also had to fly from Houston to Chicago for one game, lose like that and then fly to the east coast for a game tomorrow. oof.

I really don't think we talk enough about how painful that WS loss was.  There were like 10 things where if just 1 went the Blue Jays way they are the WS Champions.  A couple of the plays were by literal inches.  Insane.

I thought it was a great send. Worst case scenario you have Pete at 2nd base with only one out. More times than not he’s gonna score there. Make the defense make a great play multiple times, which they didn’t,

that game was fun as horsefeathers obviously, but are people really saying PCA at 2nd with 1 out is preferable to Kelly at 3rd, PCA at 1st (soon to be 2nd when he steals without a throw on the first pitch) with no outs because of…base clogging?

I live out near Philadelphia, and I’m out here visiting my father and my brother in Wisconsin where I grew up.

We have not been able to sit down and watch a Cubs game together in over 35 years. Today was the first day the three of us watched one in that length of time together as a family. What a game to watch together! I horsefeathers love the Chicago Cubs lol great memories were made today.

Thank you to the boys today! Great game and this meant a lot 💪❤️

Especially in a walkoff situation the breakeven point is pretty low.  Good send that simply didn't work out IMO.

It's been a few years since I've had access to TruMedia, sadly, they priced us out here at NSBB. But it had a lot of the data on sends and what not and I looked into the success rate the Cubs had on there and it was way better than fans realized. 

I'm always pro-aggression on the bases (within reason, ya know?). Speed up the game. Either force a perfect really long throw or force a relay and multiple perfect throws. It also requires the catcher to apply the tag; something that isn't always a forgone conclusion. The more you can force the defense to make very specific, very intricate actions the more you allow a slight falter. And on that play all you needed was one slight falter to win.

Myles Straw has a 24th percentile arm value, and a 52nd arm strength value. Yeah, Carson Kelly is a 14th percentile sprint speed, but it wasn't like they were running on prime-Ichiro. I think any way you look at it, it was basically a coin-flip. No one here wanted to watch the Cubs go back out for the 12th inning; it would have likely been a 2nd inning of Trent Thornton (who had already fulfulled his monthly K-quota with one the inning prior) or a Braxton Garrett Cub-debut with a runner on second. So make the best of the moment and force the action on your terms with zero outs.

This is where I am at. I didn’t like the send in that situation, but I understand it. And honestly Berry has a split second to make that decision.
