i thought the cubs sucked at challenges, but the reds have been brutal late in games with not challenging.

Cubs are one of the better teams at challenges, percentage wise. But Amaya not very good. He was the catcher in the game Boyd and him made bad challenges. He missed both today. One as a hitter and the other catching.

W..... 15 straight home, 9 in a row, 19-3

Keep it Rolling

All while trying to navigate a pitching staff decimated with injuries. Amazing!

111 win pace by the way

Corollary to this:

Go .500 from here and you win 88 games, which is almost certainly a playoff spot

Somehow the NL central is 29 games over 500.  It’s unbelievable that all teams are > 500 and it’s by far the best division in baseball so far.

Is it time to move Ben Brown back into the rotation? Hes really bounced back and im eating crow on that. Innings are available there now.

Why would they trade for a pitcher like Brown/Assad/Rea when they have 3 of them already? If all they are going to do is get a guy like those guys why not wait it out a little and when Theilbar comes back they don’t have to add a rotation starter. They already have him with the combo of Brown/Rea/Assad.
If Theilbar and/or Harvey is weeks away, maybe they do have to add someone now. But if either is closer to 8-10 days they can probably piece things together a little longer. If all they are going to get is a guy like the guys they have for that spot. I would rather wait if only 7-10 days.

Rea already part of rotation,  Brown has been a great asset to the bullpen,  and Assad has been beneficial as a SP depth / bullpen arm.

So, you keep what been working with those 3 and go shopping for a guy who can hold it down for however long needed as the 5th starter.

Can't just hope guys will be returning in 2-3 weeks and just try to stay afloat with who they have until then, they take Brown and Assad out of the role theyre doing now, that means they need to weaken the pen and SP depth they have left and will need to add guys like Hollowell, Thornton,  etc type to fill out the pen until the injured returns.

I don’t have an issue with adding a pitcher. Just want either a real starter or a real pen arm(and move Brown to the rotation). I don’t want another guy like Brown/Rea/Assad, in the sense that each are spot starters/multi inning guys.
Get a BOR starter and leave Ben alone in the pen. Or get a higher leverage pen arm and stretch Ben out.

Are they not grabbing Edwards and Chafin because they want something temporary and both of those guys are going to want permanent deals where things get really crowded once the other pen arms return?
