Bullpen looks tough, if Ben is going to start tomorrow.  Hopefully, Shota will pitch at least 6 innings.

Shota pitching 6-7 innings would go a long way in making me feel better about their chances this weekend.  Texas has been lackluster on offense this season, but going into that series with a spent pen could be a disaster.

Yeah, if you're trying to avoid 3 appearances in 4 days, you're down to Thornton, Assad, Palencia, and Martin. I don't know how they feel about using Assad as a high frequency reliever, Palencia is one inning max, and the other two guys are...Tyler Thornton and Corbin Martin. I guess Thornton is on batting practice duty if this goes sideways.

Checked out Lowder's game logs - through his first 6 starts, he was at 3.10 ERA and going 5-6 IP.  But, his last start against @PIT - he went 1.1 IP and allowed 8 ER, which ballooned it up to 5.09.  Was that the game where PIT had 8 BB in a row, or something?  (I'm guessing cause Lowder had 4 BB and his replacement, Phillips gave up 4 BB without getting an out.)

Just get up 12 runs thru 6 and have Shaw or someone pitch

Brown may start, but id expect it to be a bullpen game.  Brown having pitched twice this week, might only be able to go 3 innings top, likely not use Assad today and go with him tomorrow too.

Theyre likely going to need to make another move tomorrow for a fresh arm

He threw 25 pitches on Monday.  Unless they have him on a pitch count of like 75-80 (which is entirely possible given how he's been used), I don't think there will be any restrictions on how deep he can go.

I'd assume he tops out at 3-4 innings this first time out.  He hasn't thrown more than 50 pitches in an outing this year and has only topped 4 once in the past month

Right, but that's unrelated to how many times he's thrown this week, which is what was implied in the post I was replying to.

With Boyd's injury, they simply HAVE to figure out another starting pitching option. This bullpen isn't built for 40% of the starts going to Rea and bullpen games
