I don't even think it's a big deal.  There's an article somewhere in this thread about how Caleb's completion % isn't even really a big deal in the offense that Ben Johnson is trying to run.  No doubt he misses some throws every week that make you scratch your head, but Ben also wants him pushing the ball down the field consistently and picking up chunk plays.  He can miss a few throws if they are hitting a lot of intermediate passes imo.  Ideally the fully formed version of Caleb will involve missing less throws but for now its working for him and he's been pretty good as a whole.

Accuracy matters, completion percentage is context dependent and one component of quarterback efficiency. Mason Rudolph’s completion% was 20% higher yesterday. Caleb’s 8.04, the stat with the highest correlation with wins and losses, even higher than passer rating. Not to mention the scramble yards. Who played better? It’s the NFL stat version of batting average.

With his use of his legs, avoidance of negative plays like sacks and interceptions he’s netting 6.5 yards per drop back which leads to long sustained drives and points. But yes, he needs to improve on his accuracy, the margin for error will be non existent during this 6 game stretch.

That means you won’t be able to follow this thread LOL.

Enjoy the pre-Thanksgiving festivities

I love you guys, but I don't follow these game threads in real time. Hats off to those of you that do, but I have a wall of tv's and I watch football on Sunday, then read the game threads the next morning over coffee, Good news was that I was able to get home and watch the game without knowing the results.

Some of you have been giving Phily way too much credit. They have barely won several of their games. Their offense has been wishy washy all year. AJ Brown hates it there, and every time he complains, some of the other receivers suffer at his expense. They've had a pretty tough schedule so far, no doubt, and beaten some of the best teams in the league. But Saquon is not the same dude as last year and Hurts isn't even close to top QB this year. With that said, the Bears stand no chance if they go into Phily with the same defensive personnel as this past Sunday. Hopefully Lane Johnson is out again this Friday.

Don't see any reason why Jaylon Johnson and Kyler Gordon can't be back this week. I would guess a couple of the LB's will be back as well. Also wondering about Braxton Jones. He should be back soon as well.

Yes I selectively use PFF when it makes the Bears look good but an update on the Loveland/Warren debate:

I was confident Loveland would come around, he's really horsefeathers good.  Watching mainly Big Ten football, I knew both he and Warren were very good.  All this talk of Loveland being a bust or a wasted pick was and is nonsense.  I really like that he's an impossible cover for LB's and even some DB's.  Laughed out loud yesterday when I saw the Steelers trying to cover him with Herbig, or maybe it was Watt.  Did they really think that was going to be effective?

Are we still supposed to regret taking Caleb over Jayden Daniels?

The regret was not taking Jayden McPeNix and the haul, but never Drake Maye, the actual top qb prospect from that draft class from our vocal fanbase for all of last year. He was never part of any haul hypothetical for some unexplainable reason. It’s quite comical the pivot from fields and MHJ to some combination of the non Maye or Caleb quarterbacks to now “Maye better”.

People forget that Loveland is 2 years younger than Warren. When Warren was 21, he had 34 receptions for 422 yards in 13 games in college. Loveland will likely have better numbers than that this year, but in the NFL.

Is Trapilo your starting LT even when Benedet gets back?

Either way I’m not looking forward to The Myles Garrett show in a few weeks.

but I think this year has just proven that he just doesn't put the ball where it shouldn't be.

He also doesn't put the ball where it should be often enough, but he's getting better. He's doing exactly what everyone wants him to do. He's learning from mistakes and making incremental improvement.

The Bears might not be as good as their record (but they are), but they are getting better. In the NFL, coaching makes a measurable difference.

Caleb Williams has had 4 games this season when he's completed over 60% of his passes.

In those games, the Bears are 1-3.

Gotta admit, your slow turn into "somewhat optimistic Bears poster" has been one of the pleasant surprises of the season.

They are doing what they should be doing, beating lesser teams and even winning against an equally matched one.  I listened to the postgame interviews, and Caleb gave a balanced appraisal of his performance. The needle is definitely north, regardless of what happens on Friday.

The Lions and Packers are not much better than the Bears right now, so it should be a fun six-game series to end the year.

I was expecting game balls to go to Ozzy & Nashon. I was 0 for 2 on my guesses.

If you look at the sideline angle of the last play, Nahshon jumps that route and probably has a pick 6 if Brisker doesn't tip that pass.

I wish somebody (any one or all of) on the O-line would get a game ball. They've been so good the last 9 weeks.

I agree with the Philly assessment. And I was looking at their history under Sirianni and they aren't really a "get right game" type of team. When they lose, they tend to spiral a little bit.

2025- back-to-back losses earlier this year. 2nd loss was on a short week @ NYG

2024- they lost 2 of 3 games early, that win in between was 15-12 and they were held scoreless until the 4th quarter. Lost 3 games this season. After the other, they beat the Cooper Rush Cowboys.

2023- famously lost 6 of their last 7 (including playoffs) to end the season, and completely fell apart.

2022- they lost back-to-back here as well. After their only other loss this year, they eked out a 17-16 win vs Jeff Saturday's Colts.

I don't think Sirianni is a strong locker room guy. It's just not that big of a deal because they are the most talented team in the league. But this is the best time to be getting them. Short week, Lane Johnson is supposedly out 4-6 weeks (not put on IR though). And they are 13-26 all time without Lane, Their OL overall hasn't been as strong run blocking and going from best RT in the league to replacement level guy is a big deal.

Cleveland is low-key one of the tougher games left on the schedule IMO.  If they get decent QB play out of Sanders they could be a problem.  We all know what Garrett can do; they have played some good teams very tough this year.

Could be very tough.  Then again if the Bears are able to effectively run and Caleb' playing on schedule I really don't care about Garrett.  We're getting closer and closer to the Bears offense being the aspect teams have to plan for and be concerned with.  Or, to put it another way, we're getting closer to the point where fans don't have to fear this or that defensive player because, the Bears are going to move the ball and score regardless.

The weekly winning really helps I'm sure 😂

I think you have to care about Garrett though, because he is singularly able to wreck their ability to run the ball and play on schedule. He's may very well be the single best NFL player if you just consider skill at their position

Totally agree, he's probably among the best, if not the best.  Guess, what I meant to say, is fearing this or that defensive player is the old way of being a Bears fan.  These Bears are trending towards a legitimately good offense, QB and HC, I'm done with fearing this or that team.

I'd love to have the TD/INT relationship in those same games though.  Something tells me that other QB's that are under 60% are throwing a lot more picks and a lot less TD's in those same games.

Funny that immediately after I made my “should the Bears just semi-forfeit the Eagles game” the Eagles go and lay and egg. It’s the NFL, no game is guaranteed.

i do think though that if the Bears are serious about playoffs, that Browns game at home has to be a gimme (obviously). Yes Myles Garrett is a hall of famer having a fantastic year, but you gotta take care of business against that team at home on a playoff run. They aren’t pushovers, but they are easily the worst team remaining on the schedule.
