I’m so sick of these tired, predictable outcomes. Inability to hit with RISP or in a close game, getting blanked by every single starting pitcher whose half way decent and a double strike if it’s a lefty, triple strike if he pitches for a team with a winning record… It’s grounding day.

Bringing this up for no reason other than extreme bitterness, but there was noise about the Astros cheating in pitching well before any of the trash can crap came out and I've never been at all convinced they are doing things on the level there

They scored 12 runs like 18 hours ago

Lance McCullers vs Valdez. The sum total of these last 2 games is great, they’d be in business if they saved some of those runs for a game where it’s a tie game with 2 total runs.

You can't convince me that Brujan is ever a better option than anyone he is pinch hitting for.  He is awful, and not a major league player.  The Cubs bench is embarrassing.

I’d rather Jason Marquis take that at-bat. Like, not even 2008 Marquis, but 2025 Marquis.

So glad we're able to give these critical ABs to Brujan

So I will ask again. If Candelario is healthy we don’t want him? He isn’t a better option than Brujan?

If Brujan is going to pinch hit why not him come in to bunt and then Busch? Baffling.

My guess is so Busch has a better chance at another AB this game than Brujan. Granted it would probably be against Hader, so..

Exactly. It would be against Hader. Pretty sure Shaw comes into the game to play 3rd so that AB would be his. Not great either. But if he knew he was using 2 pinch hitters I would have gone Brujan then Busch. Brujan try to bunt.

Yep, why i always advocate for better bench players when needed.

Not looking for AllStars, just having a couple guys that can be reliable enough to be counted on when their opportunity comes.

Shocking after where they were just 2 weeks ago

Is it though?  I would file it more under the category of "mildly surprising."  But the Cubs have some obvious holes and there are too many pretty good teams in the NL Central for the Cubs to run away with it.

What happened to the Daryle Wards of baseball? The guy you keep on the bench specifically to take big PH at-bats. That guy has been replaced with “positional versatility”.

Baseball is such a dumb sport.

One day you can score 12 runs and the next day you can face Valdez/Abreu and be dominated.

Barring a miracle, looks like the division lead will be down to 1 game.  Shocking after where they were just 2 weeks ago

I always say the NL Central should always be so winnable in a division with 4 smaller market teams but here we are with the 2nd best record in the NL and there are 2 team right on our ass

Ehhhh..lol

I mean if it was just between having him or Brujan

It like asking if you wanna be punched on the right side or left side of your face 😅☹️

I jinxed the Cubs saying they’d score a single run.

I predicted a Taillon QS, fell an inning short and a 4-2 win 🤷‍♂️
