I always say the NL Central should always be so winnable in a division with 4 smaller market teams but here we are with the 2nd best record in the NL and there are 2 team right on our ass

That's more about the over-performing small market teams than the Cubs

Reds just walked off San Diego

Dare I say that’s good because it keeps our WC cushion only only brings it 0.5 games closer if SF wins

I understand that, that’s the point I was trying to make

Even with the elite pitching, hitting really hasn’t been a giant issue tbh. Our season OPS is .774, but during this possibly about to be 11-13 stretch our team OPS is .750.

Didn't we say back in April "build a big lead in the first few months because June is going to be brutal"? If so, why are people panicking

What happened to the Daryle Wards of baseball? The guy you keep on the bench specifically to take big PH at-bats. That guy has been replaced with “positional versatility”.

Absolutely, im old school when it comes to the bench.

Give me Thad Bosley, Richie Hebner, Lenny Harris  i can go on and on 😅😅

Now and mainly cause of DH and a million relievers cause starters are only asked to go 6 innings, like you said it versatility guys and guys who can run fast.

My favorite Cubs bench was 1984s

It's probably the part where we had a 6.5 game lead 10 days ago and now its 1 game?

I don't think people expected the Brewers to have the 3rd best record in the NL and Cardinals right behind them.

The Astros are a hell of an organization. How you going to lose Tucker and bregman and not skip a beat?

Man I miss when the Cubs had an elite front office.

Once again a nice mid summer collapse...Great to see small market org's with a fraction of our payroll continue to pants Jed.

It's just awesome.

This bench is horrendous.

Turner, Brujan and Berti? I mean that has to be a joke right?

Yea, theres no need to panick now.

Scoreboard watching dont start til August and this team roster wise will or should look a little bit different come then.

Considering what they went through the first 3 months with the SP, entering July first in first place no matter the lead amount if definitely a positive.

12 games to go before the break, just stay on top and hopefully Hoyer will start making some positive additions and subtraction to the roster afterwards and then take care of buisness the final 2 months.

It's just awesome.

On June 1, the Cubs were 14 games over .500

On July 1, the Cubs will be.....14 games over .500

Daryle Ward spent two years on the cubs bench and his second year he had a 79 wRC while providing absolutely nothing else. This is weird.

Stop being logical!

Collapse ?????

They went 13-13 in June

They had a 3 game lead heading into June 1st, at worse if Brewers win it'll be a 1 game lead.

Dropping 2 games off a lead after 26 games is far from a collapse, and it may only be 1 game if Rockies can win in extras.

Theyll be ok

Next up:

CHC: 3 vs. CLE

STL: 3 @ PIT

MIL: 3 @ NYM

All three expected starters for Cleveland are righties

He hurt his wrist in 2008, was never the same afterwards and it ended his MLB career.  Before then he was an awesome bench guy
