Yesterday, before getting Antonio Smith, this would have been a DE pick, but after paying big money to Mario Williams' counterpart:

The Houston Texans select: CB Vontae Davis, University of Illinois

The J - E - T - Ss spent money on the defense this weekend and are in the process of reinventing their version of the 3-4. But the big story with this team remains QB, with Favruh retiring again. New Jersey's favorite team selects senior Mark Sanchez from USC. He's taking crap for "leaving early" but all he's doing is foregoing his 5th year at USC. Go earn your money big fella.

As much as I want to see the Bears draft a lineman (offensive or defensive), if the draft goes like this one does, it's pretty much a disaster scenario for that line of thinking. At this point, I'd probably advise just going BPA and drafting Maclin.

Of course, I'm not in charge anywhere. :)

This pick would make me sad, since it would pretty much assure Erik Ainge of not getting a chance at the job. I'm still holding out the (slimmest) hope that the Jets stick with the three QBs they have now and Ainge beats out Brett Ratliff and Kellen Clemens.

Drafting Sanchez makes sense, though.

yeah I can't do this on weekends sorry just saw it

Not a big deal. The Redskins don't have a second round pick anyway, so you're off the hook for a while. :D

Ha sounds good and good pick by the way. I would have gone with a tackle as well

Yeah, like I said, it was a OT or a LB that they'd need and the LBs weren't overly impressive for a top 15 pick.

And I really, really like Oher's potential. I think he's a good deal at that spot.

Not that I'm involved in this, but if things fall this way, after finding out Crabtree only has 1/2 inch and 10-15 pounds on Maclin, it would be asinine for the Bears to not take him at this spot. You can fill in OL later, but there aren't too many athletes better than him out there.

Yeah outside of Curry there aren't a lot of impressive LB and he's an OLB

I like Brian Cushing, but that's pretty much it. The next guys I see as late 1st, early 2nd round guys.

Yeah, I'll be pretty surprised if Maclin falls here and the Bears don't take him.

I don't see any value on either side of the line at this pick now. I would have loved to see Oher fall.

I think Maclin is the no-brainer here but would love to get input from other Bears fans before we make the pick (I guess I've taken the reins from Ping).

ETA: Looks like bukie and mul21 are thinking the same as me. Anyone have any other suggestions in the next few minutes before we make Maclin official?

I'd say the best value picks at this point are Maclin and Harvin. The only way Harvin makes sense, though, would be if you absolutely abhor everything Mizzou.

Maclin is more refined than Harvin while having similar upside (and he has been healthier thus far).

Maclin it is. Tampa Bay is on the clock. I will PM weis.

I'd also have been tempted to take Mark Sanchez even though that'd be a complete luxury pick. I think he's a better QB prospect than Stafford and Sanchez should be top 10 material.

I hope he's the world's greatest bubble screen receiver because the Bears passing game won't have more than 1.5 seconds to get any plays off.

I know, I know. I thought Britton, Beaty or Unger would be too big a reach there, though. If we could, I'd have traded down to the end of the 1st and drafted an OL.

Sadly, I can't see Angelo taking an OL in the first round in consecutive years.
