Anyone feel like continuing this one, with a kind of collaborative effort making the picks. We could just throw around a few different options at each pick and just do a vote on who best to pick. I mean mostly it would just turn into a discussion of late round draft picks, but interesting nonetheless.

Works for me. I like digging around in the later rounds.

Detriot, so far has gone:

Andre Smith, OT

Peria Jerry, DT

Michael Johnson, DE

Eric Wood, OL

Terrance Taylor, DT

Jarius Byrd, CB

Talk about filling up the lines. They could really go anywhere and should be thinking BPA. My BPA is WR Mike Thomas, Arizona, who shouldn't have fallen this far.

Other Possibilities (in order of preference):

Steven McGee, QB, Texas A&M

Scott McKillop, ILB, Pitt

Cameron Morrah, TE, Cal

Rashad Jennings, RB, Liberty,

Austin Collie, WR, BYU

Kory Sheets, RB, Purdue

Chris Owens, CB, San Jose State

In our draft world, you could make a strong argument for McGee, since there aren't many options at QB left whereas WR there may be more. In real life, Stafford is probably the guy and this isn't an issue.

This is actually the Seahawks' pick. They acquired it from the Lions in the Cory Redding/Julian Peterson deal.

The current NFL.com draft order is back on the first post of this thread.

Wait, I just realized my order is different than yours, dew. I got mine from NFL.com...

Hmmm, as did I. If you go to Draft Tracker from the NFL.com home page it has the option of clicking on "rounds". That is the most up-to-date order, I believe.

Huh, well I guess its Seattle then. Throw my Detroit analysis out the window.

On the other hand, I think you could keep my top two guys around, Thomas or McGee. Those running backs I mentioned should be considered as well.

I'd go McGee, but am open to be convinced otherwise.

mhuber actually said he was going to go QB last round, so I'd say quarterback is the way to go. He was going to go with Chase Daniel, as it would fit Tim Ruskell's MO, but McGee is probably the better prospect.

I'd go McGee as well.

I'll give it til morning, though, to see if we get any other recommendations.

So I am confused...are we drafting here or the other one? I will post in the other one for now..

We started over since a lot has changed since the original draft but this draft is still open for those interested in picking in the 5th round. If you want to make the 5th round pick for the Seahawks too, go for it.

We're doing both.

But because of a large expected drop off of participants, we were just gonna do a collaborative effort for the picks. Since this is your team though, your opinion would trump all, IMO if you want to make a selection for the 5th round.

So far Atlanta has gone:

Clint Sintim, OLB, Virginia

William Moore, S, Missouri

Michael Hamlin, S, Clemson

TJ Lang, OT, Eastern Michigan

They could use a NT, but the best DT I see is a three technique guy who would duplicate Babineaux. Plus they have another pick early in the fifth, so it can wait.

My pick would be to give Matt Ryan another possible option: Cameron Morrah, TE, Cal. Otherwise, I just say go BPA.

I went ahead and took Stephen McGee, QB, Texas A&M for the Seahawks.

Now, we move on to the second pick, Atlanta. So far, here are the Falcons' picks:

1st rd - Clint Sintim, OLB

2nd rd - William Moore, S

3rd rd - Michael Hamlin, S

4th rd - TJ Lang, OL

I think the Falcons are likely to do one of two things here, continue with the defense and find a DT or finally go offense with a pick and look at a TE (they've been rumored to be hot after Tony Gonzalez, but it doesn't look like that will happen).

Shawn Nelson from Southern Miss or James Casey of Rice would be the best TE options here. Both would be terrific values here and would give Matt Ryan a solid receiving target to throw to.

At DT, Corvey Irvin is intriguing, but very raw. Terrence Knighton is also a possibility.

I'd go with one of the two TEs, I believe. Better value and both could contribute next year, while the DTs will have to develop.

Thoughts?

So I guess the options here are Morrah, Casey and Nelson.

I prefer Nelson over any of the three. I think he's a bit more of a big play threat than Morrah is and is more polished and developed than Casey.

But I can also see the argument for Morrah as well.

Posted

Ok, Nelson is the pick of Atlanta.

Onward now to the Chiefs. KC so far has taken:

1st rd - Brian Orakpo, DE/OLB

3rd rd - Troy Kropog, OT

4th rd - Travis Beckum, TE

Wide receiver might be a good option here. Mike Thomas of Arizona might be the choice here if the go receiver - especially since Thomas seems to profile similarly to Wes Welker, who I'm sure Pioli is very familiar with. Marko Mitchell of Nevada would be a darkhorse.

Center is likely a need too, with Edwin Williams of Maryland being the top choice there.

A real darkhorse candidate here - FB Brannan Southerland of Georgia. He's a decent receiver out of the backfield, can run the ball some and would be a good lead blocker for the Chief RBs. He's also excellent on special teams, which was something Belichick seemed to love in New England and it wouldn't surprise me if Pioli does as well.

I'd probably go Thomas here, though.

I like Thomas, but I'm not sure he necessarily is in the Welker mode, not as fast I don't think.

Thomas is the top player on my board, so really no team could go wrong with him at this point. I also like Chris Owens, CB, San Jose St.

Lets wait a while and see if anyone else chimes in though. Don't want this becoming just the dew and WF22 mock.

:-)) Probably a good idea.

I like Owens as well and the Chiefs could use a young player in the secondary. I like Thomas only in the right situation, though. At 5'10, he'll struggle to thrive in many offenses unless he's really talented.

At this point, though, I think he's a good value.

Mike Thomas shouldn't last till the 5th round in real life.
