That Illinois game was awesome. Went to BWW to watch it in DeKalb and the place was going nuts.

And a big lol at Indiana. You couldn't have possibly scripted that ending.

I have watched it several times on ESPNews, but more to see the Indiana players react to the shot than the shot itself.

Yeah, I am still bitter.

The latest on the SEC tournament. The remainder of the tournament has been moved to Georgia Tech because of the damage to the Georgia Dome. The Georgia-Kentucky game will be played at noon today, with the winner playing again tonight against Mississippi State (following the conclusion of Tennessee-Arkansas). If I were Mississippi State I'd be licking my chops right about now, knowing I'd be playing a fatigued team.

It's complete BS UK or UGA have to play 2 games in the same day. UGA is fighting for their lives here, win or they're done. UK is playing for positioning & they have to get out of that 8/9 spot for any shot at the 16.

I agree, but I don't know what the alternative is. The SEC is required to complete the tournament on time for the NCAA selection or they'd lose their automatic bid. They really should have waited out the storm and played last night IMO.

Fans who traveled to Atlanta will also be rightfully angry. With the move to a smaller venue only players' families, press, etc. will be allowed to attend. Undoubtedly the fans not allowed to attend will get a refund, but unless that also includes reimbursement for travel and lodging costs that turned out to be wasted they'd have a legitimate gripe. The whole situation sucks.

The tourney cannot be pushed back. They already only finish the final game of the tourney 3 hours before the Selection Show. It would be great if they could, but there really isn't any feasible way to delay it.

I have been in stadiums before where tornados were near...I've never actually seen one hit it though, or have I ever seen gameplay be stopped for it. It's a pretty rare situation. But yeah, that was definitely scary.

Then this should be a wake up call to all Conferences, when scheduling your conference tournament, make sure you leave enough yourself an open date for case like what just happen tonight.

Really? They should all change their schedules to leave an open date in case something like this happens once every 35 years? Come on.

Not to break up discussion over some great games, but what can Illinois fans tell me about Devan Bawinkel? He committed to Iowa last night.

I see that he played Class A in Illinois and that Rivals had him ranked 104 before his senior year. Then he committed to West Virginia over Georgetown and DePaul, was in their rotation the first half of the year then broke his hand. Left after the coaching change, went to Highland CC and had a pretty big year.

The fact that he had offers from Beilein and JT3 tells me he must be pretty skilled with a good feel for the game. I'm guessing Illinois wasn't interested. Rivals felt his range was a weakness coming out of high school but he hit over 45% at Highland.

Even if conferences wanted to, their ultimate bosses (television) would never permit it. Zero percent chance they'd give up Sunday afternoon conference championships leading up to the selection.

So apparently for those final 2 minutes of overtime, the Georgia Dome was safe and now it isn't? The SEC should have continued that game today. Sucks for the winner of Kentucky-Georgia but not too many other options out there.

Indiana's won it's last game.

While IU was the beneficiary of some calls at the end tonight (probably, I was there in person and didn't have a good view), claiming they get every call all the time is asinine.

No it was a good game down to the last 30 seconds. At which point I thought the referees played far too big a role.

First, the "it's" in my post is an awful display of grammar.

Second, I would certainly agree with you. From the replay I saw last night, DJ was fouled on the second rebound, but the whistle should be swallowed at that point in time. Otherwise the ref's decide the game (well, that is, until the miracle shot). The foul on the rebound tip looked dubious. I haven't seen the Gordon drive again, but I'd guess he did get fouled -- he gets fouled nearly every time he drives (though he often subsequently rams over someone). Too many key calls late. I said before he took them, IU didn't deserve to win on the second set of White free throws; but I was thinking more OT not that.

There is no way the NCAA can unilaterally allow the SEC to poach two automatic bids. I have no problem with naming co-champions, as it appears that may be the fairest result. However, in that case, the automatic bid should go to Tennessee as the regular season champion.

Nevermind, looks like this is moot and they'll play the final Sunday. I just woke up after getting back late from last night's games.

All I can hope for is no more injuries from UCLA today and a competitive game against Stanford. No Luc = easy Stanford win, but the way Brook Lopez is playing, they'd probably win even if Luc was around.

It was great to see Dragovic and Keefe step up and play their best games of their career when Luc got hurt.

Actually, the foul calls late probably hurt IU more than helped. Gordon did get fouled. DJ did not on the putback. If the refs don't call that foul it's just a tie game. But with 3.5 seconds instead of 1.5. IU has a chance to set up a defense. Minnesota has to actually run a play and don't get the desperation heave like that. It's easier to guard a Tyus Edny type play than it is to guard the play that actually happened last night. Also, if the refs don't call that 2nd foul (DJ did get ran into pretty soundly) then they have to call the ball out on Minnesota, giving IU the ball w/ 1.5 and a tie game. That would have made for an OT scenario with Minnesota's 3 biggest players on the bench with 5 fouls.

FYI, the worst call of the game was DeAndre Thomas fouling out on a charge when a 5'10" guy goes underneath him (an actually bailed to the ground before the contact) as he goes up for a layup.

Still, that's the most energy IU has played with since Sampson left. They got the ball to DJ all 2nd half. Dre played the best game of his career. They played pretty solid defense, except on loose ball situations, where UM scored 4 buckets off of blocked shots or airballs in the 2nd half. The problem was we didn't shoot well. Despite the loss, we looked like a team that could go to the Sweet 16 if we make a couple jump shots. But we will need Ellis and Stemler to provide something tangible to do so.

i don't think they realized the true scope of the damage until after the alabama-msu game, and then even further the more the night went on. there was no point in letting everyone outside, especially with more severe weather on the way.

it's basically a war zone in that area. i don't like the decision as a UK fan, but i don't see what else they could do given the circumstances.

I also understand that the issue wasn't just the condition of the arena, but that there was another round of severe weather on the way and they wanted to get people out before it hit. And I really think Kentucky is in the NCAA anyway if they beat Georgia, so it is Georgia that would be hurt more should they win. They'd have to win the tournament to make the NCAA, but based on the conference season I don't think Kentucky does.

So much for Tulsa giving me something to pay attention to during my last hour of work. They're already down 20 to Memphis.

42-13 at halftime. It was 4-4 and 17-10 at one point. 38-9 and 25-3 runs.

Georiga might have this 2 games in one day thing down. Beating UK by 10 just 8 minutes in. Still a long way to go, but they'll need a blowout so they can rest their starters.

There's nothing else to be done. Just play the games and get it over with. The selection committee can take it into account when they cast their votes if need be.

This is one of those situations you just have to deal with as best you can, and move on.

I completely disagree with Dickie V and Bobby K that Maryland, Virginia Tech, and Oregon are better teams than Illinois State.

I dunno, it's hard for me to push ISU past those guys when their best wins are Creighton, SIU, and Wright State, and they have just as many bad losses(RPI>100) as those 3. Maryland beat UNC, Oregon beat 'Zona twice(and have only 2 bad losses to 4 for the rest of this quartet), and Virginia Tech, well they beat Florida State I guess, and they have a shot at UNC today.

"Illinois-Minnesota, who you got Bob?"

"I don't care"

Yeah, really don't see either of those teams beating MSU/Wisconsin, or even really keeping it close.

I see a repeat of 99 happening with Illinois getting into the finals and just having absolutely nothing left to compete.

i don't think it matters if they have anything left, they're doing this with smoke and mirrors as it is. they may ugly it up enough, tired or not, to win both games.

Or they could go to overtime (again).
