  1. ZiPS 22-23 projections for Bryant, Baez, and Rizzo are not at all encouraging. Baez, as much as I love him, scares me the most. There is little to like in his batting profile, and I can't help but think his defense and base running will be the first things to go as he gets older. Do I suck as a fan if I don't want any of them to be resigned this offseason?
  2. i used to bootleg Baseball Prospectus' PECOTA spreadsheets to Meph. that was such a long time ago...
  3. Due to unforeseen circumstances, I am now in the position of trying to get my friends' money back for them. So, I have 2 tickets for the Friday game, and 1 ticket for the Saturday game. Nationals at Cubs - Friday, August 9th, 1:20 CDT - (2) Section 219, Row 7, seats 103 and 104 - $84 Nationals at Cubs - Saturday, August 10th, 3:05 CDT - (1) Bleacher - $89 We got these back in March, so I'm not sure if prices are lower or higher now due to dynamic pricing. If you can show me where you can get equivalent tickets for less, I'll match it. I'm not going to break my back to sell these, but we are staying in the Wrigleyville area this weekend, so it shouldn't be too difficult to meet up. Let me know if you have any questions.
  4. An udpate: Initially, we chose the Reds series (Aug 23-25). A member of the party had to back out due to his wife graduating from PT school that weekend. She had previously told him there was nothing important going on that weekend . After that, we had 3 weekends to choose from: June 8th, 9th vs Pirates July 20th, 21st vs Cardinals August 10th, 11th vs Nationals I was able to get 219, R7 for Friday, and bleachers for Saturday. I could have gotten the same seats for the June 8th game of the Pirates series, but felt that seeing the Nationals was worth the extra money. Luckily, everyone else agreed. This was an extremely stressful experience, but it will be much easier the next time I do it. Now we just have to wait.
  5. Not sure if this should be its own thread. A group of friends and I are looking to make a weekendish trip to Wrigley this year. I'm the only member of the group that has been before. We don't really care about a particular series. Would like to do Thurs-Fri-Sat, but I know there aren't many Thursday home games that precede weekend home series (2 of which are the Cardinals, if memory serves). Considering all of that, does anyone think we need to use the presale? I chatted with someone on Cubs.com earlier today. They said that since we didn't care about specific games, we would be fine to wait until the normal sale and just call. Having been to Wrigley before, and having sat in multiple areas, I don't really care where we sit. That being said, what's the best option for value AND cool seats for first timers? Sorry for all the questions. I've never done this before, and search wasn't very kind to me. edit: I totally forgot that the board moved to a new server or whatever. Gonna search the archive.
  6. How much are we going to attribute Zobrist's 2015 season to his knee injury? I know he performed offensively after getting over the injury, but did he have lingering range, lateral quickness, etc issues the whole year? Defensively, his 2015 was basically awful. Is it simply the fact that he's in his mid 30s? I will say that it's generally a bad idea to place much emphasis on single year defensive metrics, but his age makes me more worried about his defense. He's what, a 4-5 win player with average defense last year?
  7. literally no one has said or implied that, but the people insistent on being miserable keep running that out there like it's some kind of trump card. Does Tim pay you guys (anyone who disagrees with dongs) to post the dumbest [expletive] questions?
  8. You mean Piniella? Piniella is a manager, he is supposed to be a meatball. if hiring piniella meant we could get a copy of the 08 offense, i'd do it in a heartbeat
  9. Good stuff. People that are smarter than me: what kind of BABIP would Bryant have to have to sustain a .291 average with a 31.4 K%?
  10. I saw Sammy's first game back from the corked back suspension, Maddux's first game back as a Cub, A-Ram's 3 HR game, and a Soriano 3 HR game too all in Cincy His first game back from the cork suspension was the best. All of the Reds fans were booing the [expletive] out of him, and then he hit an absolute bomb off of the batter's eye (had to be over 450 feet).
  11. I think someone earlier said he can't go to AAA. More likely he goes to the MLB bullpen for now with Villanueva or Parker getting jettisoned. Parker was optioned to make room for Baez. edit: David is too fast
  12. So are we expecting Bosio to dramatically improve Turner's peripherals? Mediocre K%, BB%, etc. Make me get excited over a pitcher who has a career K/9 in AAA under 6.
  13. RIP :( (he's not tho) :pig: search.php?keywords=&terms=all&author=chocolate+milk&sc=1&sf=all&sk=t&sd=d&sr=posts&st=0&ch=300&t=0&submit=Search Haha, I knew he didn't really die. I did not know he had posted here recently, though.
