I'll accept 1 of 3 in LA, but it sucks how vastly we were outplayed most of the series.  If Pages doesn't misplay that flyball on Friday we might be in a different position.

But ultimately its just 3 games out of 162 with a really beat up pitching staff so if we don't come back today take the win and go to SD and try to win a series.

Well, this has turned into a crappy day and now I am constipated after 2 and a half hours of Rick Sutcliffe.

1 of 3 in LA, hopefully they can get 2 in SD and finish the trip 500 before returning home

Yep, win the SD series and it is a great road trip. Tough to play these two teams out West.

just one of those guys with a great arm that's never been able to throw strikes.

The new guy, Rios threw 10 strikes out of 13 pitches.  Let him pitch one more inning.😁

If Hottovy fixes him he could def stick

Yeah, I hope he will.  We could always use a decent pitcher.

And not even against their better pitchers.  Not a great showing.

Not against our better pitches either outside of Shota.  Of course the rest of ours are on the IL.

Cubs last day off was the 16th, I believe. I'm chalking up the last two games as the Cubs being tired. Cubs next day off is Thursday I believe. If the Cubs can get one in S.D. I will be ok with a 2-4 trip.

Who is our ace?

We don't have a true ace, but I would say Shota is still our ace.

Is it? The Cubs had won 6/9 in LA before Friday outscoring them 56-28 since 2023. They swept both the A’s and Angles at their place last year by combined scores of 35-9 and 19-6.

I think the incredible batted ball luck by the offense leveled off and the bullpen injuries were too much to overcome when trying to hold a deficit vs the Dodgers who look like they’ll 3 peat.

Any updates on Steele and Palencia?

Steele was placed on the 60 day IL so he has a bit to go. I wouldn't expect much yet. Complex league is about to start; I think he will probably throw there first and then works his way up.

Palencia was supposed to begin throwing this weekend or so. Expect something soon about him headed to like Knoxville or Iowa for a rehab stint.

It’s bad enough listening to Sutcliffe when they’re winning.

Man, when he said the fans were booing PCA because of the home runs he hit off them last year, and genuinely believed that.....I could only shake my head and laugh.

Even Boog who usually likes to embarrass him was speechless and said nothing.

Did not realize they were that good in LA the last 3 years. I believe prior to that good stretch they were something like 4-15 at Dodger stadium since 2016. Not sure of the exact regular season record but it was bad. Still a very rough place and team to play. What they did in Sacramento and against the Angels last year is irrelevant to my comment. I did say tough to play “those two teams out West”, not any team out West.

Yeah I suspect they're going to take their time with Steele, probably do one rehab outing at each level.  Kick that process off next week and you're looking at early June.

The other arms we're waiting on, pending any setbacks:

Phil Maton - Tonight

Ethan Roberts - This week

Palencia - Next week (has a bullpen tomorrow, I'd presume a rehab this weekend)

Harvey/Thielbar - TBD but sounds like weeks not months
