It's gonna be a late night and a long day tomorrow. I made the mistake of taking today off work instead of tomorrow.

I'm not feeling overly confident about this one... I do think Boyd is going to come back strong and keep the Cubs in the game.  But can they score enough?

If Tucker is healthy enough to get picked off can he play RF? If so I roll the dice for a couple innings and put Seiya in LF, sit Happ, and have Mo DH. Happ has terrible career numbers against Peralta. Start Castro in place of Shaw too. We can't keep having 2 automatic outs in the bottom half of the lineup. Try to get some early runs and put Happ and Shaw back in for defense in the later innings.

As much as I think you have to dance with what brung ya, I don't think you can ignore Happ's struggles against Peralta in an elimination game.  He's earned the right to have a chance, but man, giving them essentially an automatic out sucks.

You kinda have to bench most of the team then, unfortunately. If there's ever a game for Tucker to make a lasting impact, it's this one.

About a third of Peralta's starts against us are clunkers, and his last two times have been strong.  So we're clearly due.

I think it would be naive for Murphy to hold Freddy for a potential game 5 or game 1 NLCS.

I think so too, but if he does start Peralta it definitely carries some risk if he kerplunks and they have no great options for Game 5.

I have seen nothing to make me think we can.  Boyd or whoever can keep their bats quiet.

Would be very funny

On one hand it would be cool to see the Cubs win this game, send it back to Milwaukee and possibly see the Brewers piss down their legs.  On the other hand, the prospect of getting rolled by Dodgers in the NLCS is not appetizing.  While acknowledging they're very good I also loathe the Dodgers, mainly out of jealousy and I just...hate them.  I want to see Ohtani keep pitching because, while it may not happen this year, I'm certain his arm is going to explode again, is that bad?

Didn’t Happ homer against Peralta last game? I know his numbers prior to that were bad, but he did homer last game.

I totally forgot, I kind of burned that game from my memory. The Brewers were up by 8 at the time though so Peralta was probably just on cruise control.

How can you forget the Happ homer? It was talked about for pages because Happ dared to “celebrate” the homer. 😬

That said, I doubt Counsell sits a guy who was a regular all season. The Mo love reminds me of football fans always wanting the back up QB to play.
