I wonder what would've happened if somebody tried. It really seemed like he was going to the Dodgers all along and worked backwards from that, but maybe if someone had had the cojones to pay him what he's obviously worth he may have considered other teams?

IIRC the reporting is that he didn't even let the Giants and Jays counter the Dodgers contract, and the Jays at least fully intended too.  Plus there was the whole Bachelor style rounds of eliminations before $$$ even got discussed.

First: I'm glad the Brewers got curbstomped and not the Cubs. Let's face facts Cubs would have gone out as quickly as the Brewers.

Second: Everybody else get a standard strike zone plus ABS challenges. Ohtani gets neither. His strike zone is from the ground to the top of the helmet and he gets no challenges. You GOT to give pitchers a fighting chance.

Third: Dodgers are pretty much a lock to win, right? Only chance is if Tor/SEA goes 7 and it causes Ohtani and the Dodgers to go cold while they are waiting.

I don't see how they lose. You could argue they have four starters better than every starter on the M's and Blue Jays.

What about Judge?  He's arguably better than Ohtani - with the bat.

Not arguable. Strictly with the bat, Judge is better.

lol Brewers. Man we could’ve put a better fight imo.

The Cubs would at least have scored more runs, even if they didn't win a game, simply by the virtue of having more guys capable of running into one.

I think we were their world series, because they didn't even show up in the LCS. That showing was pathetic.

From everything I've seen, the World Series dates are locked in, so it doesn't matter how many games the AL goes. Ohtani will be in line to start game one of the WS. Game one is listed as October 24th.

So yes, then?

LOL @ Pat Murphy for admitting that the Brewers threw everything they had to beat the Cubs.

I mean that’s what he should have done. Do what you have to do to advance and worry about the next round if you get there. Don’t save a guy for a series that might not happen.

You're correct, the amazing part or aspect is it's not even close.

Time to hit the wayback machine to the 2024 MLB Draft!

I'm not in love with Yesavage or anything, but if Tibbs and Moore are gone, unless you have an under slot agreement, I think you have to take Trey.

I'd probably go with Yesavage or an underslot with someone like Malcolm Moore here if I were doing this mock, but neither pick would have me dancing in the streets.

I know the fanbase is pretty hard in on Yesevage...I'm pretty luke warm there. It's not that he's a bad pitcher or a bad pick, but he feels like the standard 10-20 draft-range-college-arm that you can find most drafts; he's solid, has some good stuff with maybe one pitch that pops more than others. There's a solid mid-rotation arm with a little projection that maybe you squeeze the 98% out of him and he's a solid #2...but I'm just not overly enthralled here, either. If it's Yesavage, I won't have a single bone to pick...he's a good prospect in this draft, at this pick. But he's not my pick, either. Give me a college bat, then go arm-arm-arm; this is such a middling draft overall that I think the value is in picking a solid-ish bat, saving some slot and then grabbing upside arms where and when you can.

Obviously the board  - and who's left on it - plays the biggest part in determining who to draft. Yesavage and King both seem to represent the *kinda* bottom of that tier on a national level.

Consider this a friendly reminder to everyone that prospecturbation is more an art than a skill, particularly when it comes to the draft.

Even Lance Brodzowski wasn't very high on him....just two months ago!

It's funny how these things go. It's really hard to get these 100% correct. Lance is at the forefront as to what I'd consider pitching analysis and even he came away kind of unenthused with Yesevage.

I'll still take a bit of a wait and see approach, but recent results certainly suggest that he is better than advertised.
