More than a little frustrating that we're essentially going to bet on Boyd and Shota both remaining healthy and effective the rest of the season

If Boyd gasses out we're effed.

I just dont see how they can compete and make it out of the first round or second with just hanging their hopes on Imanaga  Boyd and Taillon against other playoff team top 3 starters

Very disappointing, hey at least they got Castro who we all wanted and improved the bullpen alot.

Like Seriously Jed, what are you going to do with all of Caissie, Long and Alcantara? Where are they all going to play?

Tucker gone, Happ and Suzuki traded and you have wide open spots for all 3 and Tom gets to pocket millions.  This is absolute horsefeathers.

I feel like Jed hasn’t seen a top 30 Cubs prospects he doesn’t like yet.

The worst news of the deadline is not getting the SP we need or a starting third baseman, its that Hoyer got extended.

The Cubs have a top 5 record and this wasn't enough for them to go for it lololol.  At least now I don't need to waste my money on going to watch this team play - they aren't serious about winning

Exactly, I'm certain we'll hear several attempts at rationalization by Jed.

I'm still legit blown away, like I just don't have words for it. How do you not address your biggest weakness and it's your biggest weakness by a ton.

When they don't sign Tucker, and Happy and Suzuki's contracts expire after next season, they'll play. I think that they're hedging their bets on a lockout and a salary cap.

If the cost of doing business at the deadline continues being what it was this year, and the Cubs are not going to be willing to participate, MAYBE spend a little more money in the offseason to fill holes up front.  Spending well under the line of where the budget should be, then not using that financial flexibility when you have a chance to improve a legitimate contender... just doesn't make sense.

Kind of disgusting not to use the prospect capital when your team is a top 3 in the league to acquire at least a number 2 pitcher.

He's going to claim Soroka, Taillon, and Assad is adding three SP.

So what we learned and/or my thoughts (my assumptions could be wrong):

-We’re not feeling great about keeping Tucker beyond this year

-Jed is unwilling to overpay to make moves to shore up a gaping hole on an otherwise strong even in a year when one of their best players is set to walk after the years

-The Cubs really believe in their pitching infrastructure to fix the guys they do have, and expect Taillon and Assad to be a big boost to rotation

-Comfortable with a Shota, Boyd, Horton, Taillon playoff rotation

-Beyond horsefeathered if either Shota and Boyd go down

-Be wary about hoping our GM is aggressive in going for it in the future

-Castro was a really helpful move for the offense

So he's saving them for 2028?

Like the Dodgers? Where did that ever get them?

Playoff baseball is different than regular season baseball

I was only suggesting that if this isn't a year worth aggressively augmenting then what is?
