I miss the days Theo Epstein grabbed Aroldis Chapman at the deadline and the Cubs steamrolled the NL to win the World Series.

The Cubs were already the best team in baseball at the deadline, and that's why they won the World Series.

Probably wouldn't have won it without that trade

Pssshhhh.  Shows what you know.  Only 2 teams have more wins from starters.

I guess he's what Vidal Brujan would be if Vidal Brujan wasn't terrible.

Castro has a 109 wRC+ and is a plus baserunner, average defender. Effectively an above average switch hitter which is always a useful tool. Insurance policy for OF and 3B depth.

Red Sox making a late push for Joe Ryan apparently.

If they don’t get him and still want a Ryan on their team, they can have Ryan Pressly for free.

Aroldis did put us over the top after that worrying 5-15 run.

Oh thank god. Honestly Castro is such a good fit on the club right now it would have been stupid to not acquire him.

Still hoping for another SP in the final 30.

He's like Bruhan but average instead of garbage.  Plays anywhere

Seriously, with SP being the biggest deadline need, theres absolutely no way Hoyer doesn't add one.

He's got to be closing a deal on someone

Cubs gave up top dollar for him because they knew they were the best team in baseball and needed a closer. Plus SF was big on him. This is a different situation.
