  1. FFS with the virtue signaling morality police on this board.
  2. 4 hours ago, 17 Seconds said: i want tucker back pretty badly For what it's worth: "Similarly, a return to Chicago doesn’t seem to be in the cards, because for as good a season as he had as a Cub, Tucker really didn’t seem to enjoy hitting in Wrigley Field, where his slugging percentage was 129 points lower than it was on the road." From this article: https://www.mlb.com/news/which-team-needs-kyle-tucker-most
  3. Caesar wins most positive outlook on the shortstop.
  4. The horsefeathers Brewers flying the L flag has ignited a hatred for them that was mild before. I hope LA destroys those motherfuckers and I look forward to the day we fly the W in their stadium.
  5. Too risky, what if he blows a play or hurts himself and then can't bat?
  6. When the team wins the WS it's attributed to the players. When they don't it's because the owner is cheap and should have done more. When the owner comes in and saves a landmark (it would have been easier, and probably even more profitable, to move and build another stadium elsewhere) it's strictly a business decision by the greedy owner. Even though the place was the joke of the league and about to fall down. And previous owners allowed it to happen. The Cubs are in a position to win playoff games, that includes tonight. We are not the Yankees or Dodgers (newsflash we never will be, no matter what happens or how much money is spent) but we are competitive and we have a facility that is in line with other MLB ballparks and assists in landing top tier talent. I'm ambivalent about Rickets. But I certainly am happy we won a WS (finally) and the stadium is in better shape. For whatever hand he had in making that happen, I appreciate it. More please and win tonight.
  7. Cubs payroll was about 10th in league this year. Brewers was 22nd. We outspent them 2-1 and the pissants are on the verge of booting us out of the playoffs. Mets were #1 payroll and they and didn't make it. Do we really want 5 "consequential" teams and 25 "inconsequential" anyway?
  8. Saying he did positive things is "licking boots"? F off..
  9. Like the Mets this year? Spending a lot does not guarantee you a winner. I'm not defending Rickets. But we did win a World Series (after 100 years or whatever the timeframe was) with him as owner and Wrigley was a joke. They have been more competitive since he took over. That is a fact. If you are under 40 , you have know idea how bad it was. My point was that he has done some positive things.
  10. Other than the World Series and the updating of Wrigley? No small feats those.
  11. Per the article; "He's 32, his stuff is diminished, and his strikeout rate is dramatically lower than it was last year." "18 home runs in his last 11 starts." "Yet he remains a valuable starter." He is "engaging and endearing" as well. Get good baseball players. If they are engaging and endearing or whatever, fine, but it's about winning baseball games. If he can't get guys out anymore, thats too bad for him and for us, but you have to move on.
  12. Exactly. It's easy to grin when your ship comes in.....ect. CC is unemotional. I'd prefer some fire, but maybe thats not great for baseball managers.
  13. Appreciate all you do and your reasoned responses. It's not easy being a Cub fan, and it's even worse if you can't just do something else when the outcome becomes obvious (which happens all too often). Having to drill down for a few hours after being subjected to yet another crappy Cubs performance has to be tough. Shaky pitching, and inadequate offense when it matters has been the downfall up to this point. We all know baseball is dumb and weird which is what makes it fun. Win game 3 and............. oh FFS who am I kidding????
  14. I think some of us could hit Shota at this point. It just rolls right on up there.
  15. Shota pay no attention to the fan with the big bazooombas behind home plate.
  16. I saw a news report and the reporter said the same thing. At the time Paul McCartney's "Band on the Run" was playing in the stadium during the clip. That is not 80s soft rock! Get off my horsefeathers lawn!
  17. Kind of an understatement isn't it? I mean, that was a great horse until he broke his leg. Regardless of the reason, what he did "last year" is irrelevant with athletes who suffer serious / semi-serious injuries.
