I’m already worried about how frustrated I’m going to be with this game, so I can’t imagine how that might play out for this thread if it goes the way I think it will.

The Cubs will get to Hill for several runs, they'll, for the most part, be patient and let Hill do what he wants to do - walk them.  Walking them leading to big innings.  Who knows maybe they'll be tied again for the Central lead after tonight.

But also, I’ll always have a fondness for Rich Hill and I’m saddened we didn’t get to enjoy his best years with us. There’s few things as fun in baseball as a lefty with a big fat curveball. That’s just pure baseball my friends.

OPR!

winner! One Pitch Rich.  Interesting that he still heavily relied on the curve throughout his career, throwing it just as often as his fastball, however last year he seemed to introduce a sweeper that he used much more often than his curve (albeit limited sample size)

If he does throw that curve, the Cubs have the best wRC against curveballs in the league by far this year.

I remember when he went through his control problems watching him in Jackson TN throw the ball over the catchers head to the backstop several times.

I don’t know many who have come back from the type of control problems he had.

I'll always hate him for giving up that first pitch homer to Chris Young in game 3 of the 2007 playoffs.  Wrigley was a morgue the whole night after that and I was pissed I made the trip up.

Me too, will never understand why a first pitch FB was called to someone who was spectacularly terrible that season.  I also believe it was well documented that Young was awful on anything with spin or off-speed.  So rather than exploit that weakness just go ahead and pitch to Young' strength.  My goodness, what a ******-ass  Diamondback team that was, true, the Cubs weren't that much better, if at all.
