That was just a 'spurt' guys.

This is so dumb. What if I create a sample size that starts immediately after he played good? Seems pretty obvious he's bad if you look at that way!

This wasn't what my OP was about, just responding to a poster about the HRs in June and how he has returned to hitting poorly again afterwards and following up his decline each month.

And yea, he went on a HR spurt in June with 9 in a couple weeks, that what a spurt is, he hit a bunch of them in a short period of time.

The only reason I mentioned the 9 HR in asterisks was to show why the increase in Slg and OPS.

It just feels like you're downplaying the nine home runs because it doesn't fit the argument that he's been bad. Hitting nine in a month is a big deal. That kind of power has a huge impact, regardless of what his average or OBP looked like.

Yeah, he's been cold lately. No one’s denying that. But saying he "still struggled overall" in June while also acknowledging the home runs doesn't really add up. You can't ignore the fact that those homers drove production and helped the team. If anything, that stretch showed what he's capable of when things are clicking.

We have a few where they will be monitoring their innings.  That’s why we probably need two starters at the trade deadline.

Agreed, been saying that for two months.   And I don't think it's a probably.....if we want to compete for a WS title not getting two starters as a contingency would be negligent.   If you don't and want to hedge for the future and hold on to some of the assets.....then o.k. 1.  But personally for me, you can't count on windows like this being open from year to year....go for it.
