If McCaskey is a supposed fan how can he not be embarrassed and pissed?  Does the cash still flowing in make the state of the team not matter?  Does this clown truly want to win?

I’m pretty sure he’s as embarrassed as possible for a billionaire. I take him at his word when he admits to the embarrassment. He’s done it before. He does it often. The problem is not a lack of want. It’s lack of ability.

I think he wants to win, he just has no idea how to. They are afraid of someone who might do things that shake up the organization like a Harbaugh-type. But yes it’s not as imperative to win when you have the guaranteed national TV cash flow, every game is sold out, and your team isn’t in danger of making anything other than tons of cash whether you win or lose.

Caleb’s a Dude. Everything can be fixed quickly if you have your QB. But there’s a ton they gotta do. And Poles has not shown he knows how to hire a coach or draft a lineman, which are the most pressing needs.

I bet Poles gets another year, but if he fucks this up it unfortunately dooms SEVERAL of Caleb’s peak, cheap years. Which isn’t ideal.

There aren't many solid reasons he should get another year, all evidence suggests to the contrary.  I think it best to start with a clean slate.

Keeping Poles after 2024 is the same level of stupid as keeping Flus after 2023.

I said this would be the year we started getting a picture of how good poles is at selecting players. The results speak for themselves.

Meanwhile, not a good year either for the bears or in the rest of the NFL for my "coaches don't matter that much" belief

Maybe, instead of Bill Polian/Ernie Accorsi route, McCaskey and Warren should be advised by a former player ala the Lions with Spielman.  Someone intelligent, who has a passion for the Bears, who as a former player, can relate the embarrassment and frustration of being on bad Bears teams and how to possibly turn things around .

There aren’t many thoughtful ex-bears out there. You’ve got the usual allotment of meat head defense first goons. And a couple offensive linemen that want to run the ball first second and always. The problem with zero history of offensive success shows when there isn’t a realistic person to fill this role.

Don't know if an offensive player is necessary, Spielman was a LB.  Was thinking aloud, don't know the solution, the only thing we do know is the being advised by the likes Polian and Accorsi does not work.

oh, I thought we were talking about a guy with a real job and influence. Yeah, whatever, any of the meatheads could fill that role. What is it, advisor to owner?

Advisor to the owner, going such a route, the Bears might end up with a meathead like the Lions with Campbell.  Who, if he hires good offensive and defensive coordinators along with improvement in the trenches, could work out.

Hopefully the coach they hire insists on getting rid of Poles as a condition of his hiring

SAMURAI MIKE! Jk, but if you want to go that route, just have Chico do it.

Define plenty

Yeah I see a couple of Lamar Jackson years, Aaron Rodgers his last year with the Packers and Hurts in 2022 . Obviously Lamar is unique with his legs and they are all really close to the center whereas Caleb is a massive outlier.

Hopefully Caleb can work on his footwork and throwing motion or whatever he needs to get his accuracy more normal but out of everything I’ve seen from him this year that has been the most concerning for me. I didn’t watch a ton of college film but I can’t imagine he’d be considered a generational prospect as he was if he was this inaccurate on basic throws in college.  What happened to him this year?
