🙄

They’ll keep Poles and hire one of the boring coach candidates.  It will be a group decision with the McCaskeys having their nose where it doesn’t belong.

Not a surprise at all.  Williams will struggle without strong guidance and probably fail.  Lather rinse repeat.  My wife wonders why I still root for this team.  She has a point.

Yeah, if I'm ben Johnson I would prefer Jacksonville.

Holy crap this thing spiraled out of control fast

If I am Ben Johnson, if the choices are Jax, Chicago or stay in Detroit, I'd stay in Detroit.

Its amazing what a guy can do when he has time to pass

And look what happens to guys like Rodgers when there’s no time at all.

It would be quite a feat to make Jax a contender.  I agree 100% this says a lot about the Bears that Johnson would rather go there.

Ben Johnson is not the only avenue to success, if the Bears properly address the OL.  There's no reason Kingsburry or Joe Brady can't be as successful as Ben Johnson with the Bears.

I really don't believe that's going to happen, I believe they're going to hire someone with an offensive background - Johnson, Kingsburry or Brady.

To me, firing Poles is key, if they do then, we can take away they're serious about addressing the roster issues and competing.

Is there an indication they will fire Poles?

I think we all agree he should be fired, there's nothing to suggest he's capable of fixing the trenches.  In fact, there's plenty of evidence suggesting he's incapable picking and signing/trading the correct players.

Depends on how you want to interpret the Eberflus situation. Some sources said Poles was pounding the table to fire him and Eberflus was never his guy, some said Eberflus was Poles' pick and Poles wanted to keep Eberflus this past offseason.

The roster is a disaster and Poles hasn't done much to instill confidence in his ability to identify talent or high quality coaches, plus he only has a year left on his contract. A good organization would can him. We'll see what the Bears do.

I mean that’s kind of my point.  Without an indication I’m going to assume they do the thing they usually do and keep him.  We know they aren’t a good organization.

us agreeing that Poles should be fired means nothing. Probably over 80% of the City of Chicago wanted Eberflus fired after last year, and they kept his dumb ass.

I'd say its quite likely Poles stays another season.

Unfortunately, you're probably correct.  The point I was trying to make is Poles has no empirical evidence he should remain the GM, most organizations would fire him based on this alone.  However, being terrible at your job is often times not enough to get you fired from the Bears.

What do the Packers have to play for next week?  Will the game matter at all for their playoff seeding?  Or will the Bears get a meaningless victory to cap off their disaster of a season and end up picking 10th?

If the Redskins hold on to win vs ATL then they would hold the tiebreaker over GB for the 6 vs 7 seed.

The real question however is could the Bears stop the way GB uses Malik Willis ... I think not.

Play the starters or rest them, GB probably wins either way.

Even not trying, the Packers will win.

If I was the Packers coach, I would just blitz 10 guys every play and see if I could set the single game sack record

Caleb suffering a major injury on a sack by backups playing against backups in a meaningless game with a lame duck coach and potentially a lame duck GM would be the most Beariest Bear thing of all time.
